Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Information

This is for each of us who are anxiously anticipating that special day on 1/6/12 when all the effort, support and worry is coupled with our recruits hard work and dedication and will come to fruition. Each tear shed and moment spent on sleepless nights will not go away during the next eight weeks, but to know we have a support system where we all share the same goal, will help lift our spirits as we continue through this exciting journey together!!! Let the countdown begin!!!:)

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

I'm so happy for everyone PIR 1/6/12 We got to talk for 1 hr it was great to thear the excitement in her voice. She said mom at beginning 66 days ago I didn't know if I would make it. Such a great accomplishment for all of them.

Good idea to change voice message to indicate you are traveling and when you can be reached again.

Comment by diannep on January 4, 2012 at 5:35pm: PIR HINT: It is a known fact that sailors have been spotted by their families before PIR...near the bathroom area in the PIR Hall. I'm just sayin'....you may want to have someone save your seat and "hang out" there for a little while :-)

Sometimes the I'm a Sailor calls come later and after PIR practice. Also, for those traveling tomorrow who could miss the call, change your cell voicemail to greet your new sailor if you are flying with phone off...ask that they call back many times with lots of messages for you to listen to when phones are on again. We had 5 divisions to still go through BattleStations as of yesterday, and only 4 can go at a time...so pretty sure we have 2 nights of BattleStations this week.
