Thanks Betsy, I know you will be very glad to be in a larger place. Especially since you will be able to share Thanksgiving with some very lucky Sailors :-)
Our daughter and SIL get to come home for Thanksgiving and we told them to bring their friends lol. So far there are at least 2 extra sailors coming to spend Thanksgiving with us and we are so excited to have them here. I wish I knew their moms :-) We will definitely set up the computer and let them skype with their families. I know one of them is from Washington state and the other from somewhere is CA. We are very proud to be able to have them visit in our home for a few days :-)
Lala, lol about FTLW.
That is so sweet of you to have done that. I bet he truly appreciated that and it was such a nice gesture that I'm sure it meant so much to him. I totally agree with you, your life and thoughts change when you become a military family.
My husband and I have already decided that starting next year, we will host some sailors or soldiers every Thanksgiving for dinner. (I wish we could do it this year, but we are in a very tiny apartment and there is barely enough room for the two of us). I can't wait to buy another house soon, so I can do that. I have always been big on volunteering, but it's always been in my children's schools, scouts or our church and now I'm looking forward to doing things for our soldiers/sailors/vets. It's funny how your life changes, but it's awesome that it can be in such positive ways. :)
they are awesome, I don't think she is human, she never sleeps lol :-)
FTLW, where are you getting your emoticons? I love them and would love to use some too. Care to share? :)
@chadsmom...we have not gotten our form letter either. I'm wondering if some of them are delayed. I hope so. I run to the mailbox everyday...so hoping for tomorrow!!
I hope the holidays work out for all of you. The good thing is that even if your recruit is part of the adopt a Sailor and you can't go lots of them are able to make phone calls to their families. Many of the people who adopt them let them use their cell phones :-) I hope everyone who can't go at least gets a very special phone call.
I was a crazy day for me, I had to sub in a 1st grade class, so many teacher around here are sick that I was called by 5 schools wanting me to work today. Then this evening my husband and I had date night YAY, we went to a fundraiser concert for the local Children's hospital and saw Casey James, Josh Thompson, Lee Brice, Thompson Square, Sunny Sweenie, and Kellie Pickler. It was awesome. Lee brice has a new song getting ready to be released that is military based. It is called "I drive your truck". It was so good and brought tears to my eyes. So be watching and listening for that one. Then when we were on our way home we got a call that the police were at our house. A drunk driver took out our mail box and 4 others and did some property damage and then landed on the neighbors porch. We are just thankful that everyone was okay. What a day...
