Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Information

This is for each of us who are anxiously anticipating that special day on 1/6/12 when all the effort, support and worry is coupled with our recruits hard work and dedication and will come to fruition. Each tear shed and moment spent on sleepless nights will not go away during the next eight weeks, but to know we have a support system where we all share the same goal, will help lift our spirits as we continue through this exciting journey together!!! Let the countdown begin!!!:)

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

I am still waiting for a letter with my sons address. I did get the box last Wed. but no form letter yet !!!! He went in with another SR from our same hometown - who has called home twice since arriving there !!! His mother told me that he said their PIR would be Jan. 6. according her son. So in the mean time I will anxiously await the letter ;):)

I hope everyone is doing good, or at least as well as can be expected. I am hoping for a letter this week, I will be rushing to the mailbox on Wednesday....I pray we all get a letter, that would be fantastic!!!:)

Comment by diannep on November 12, 2011 at 11:29am: Anyone driving to PIR and wanting to bring the family pet to reunite with your sailor, the Residence Inn Waukegan is PET FRIENDLY. We loved it there. No pets as we flew, but we really enjoyed our stay there. Suites and studios.

But I have a feeling that if you take the shuttle to PIR, she would be quite honored to have a sailor wheel her into the drill hall from the front gate! It is about 1/4 mile mile walk from the front gate to the drill hall. They will wheel her out too, so don't worry about that.
