OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

It is quite a walk from the parking lot to the PIR hall but when driving to the parking lot you go right past the building where you check in and you could drop her right by that door.  Then you walk from there to the PIR hall. They have wheelchairs available and Sailors there to assist anyone who needs help getting to the PIR hall. So I am sure she would be able to get their without having to walk very much at all :-)

I wanted to see if any of you veterans mom's can tell me how much walking is there at the ceremony between the parking and getting around.  My mom found out today she has to have knee surgery and I am worried she will not be able to get around easily.  If there is a lot of walking I'm not sure if she should come.  She said she will go no matter what, but I want to check and see if how much there really is and we can go from there. Thank you!:)

@mome2jord- Ha ha! I know Chris wrote that because when he would mention that he was going to be homesick and miss everyone I kept saying "but you will meet lots of new people and make so many new friends!" I think he was taking a jab at his mama! He also mentioned how good looking he is with his new haircut , he left with a mop of curly hair! That's my boy!

Good morning FireTeamLeaderWife,

I just watched the video of The Goads. They hail from Piqua,OH & I live 8 miles to the south in Troy. They came to where I work one Christmas & it was marvelous! I work with developementally disabled adults & they gave everyone a cassette of their Christmas music. (Tells you how old I am-lol!) Just thought that was a neat connection.

Today and always I am Thankful that so many choose to give themselves freely to our country in order to protect the freedom of not only their own families but the freedom of complete strangers as well. I am blessed to have two Sailors, my daughter and son-in-law who have made this choice and I love them with all my heart and soul. But I also love all of you and your families who have chosen to protect us as well. Thank you so much for your service to our country whether you are a military service member, retired service member, veteran, or family who stands behind them. God Bless you all and Happy Veterans Day. Lora
