OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Seeking information regarding the chance of visiting our son @ Christmas. I was curious how soon information would be available to make plans. Any information would be helpful.

It would be the best gift ever to see him!

Yep, ditto what FTLW said, mome2jord.  Hoping that it comes in a few days!

Good morning, everyone.  mome2jord:  pik looks great!

mome2jord - Most don't get a real letter or phone call yet...I think you did as your son was being treated for hives(?). It's wonderful that you got both so early and also that he is doing better! So, your form letter is following behind! Form letters can take 1-2 weeks to arrive.

By the way, my son is Ship 12 Div 032

Comment by mome2jord on November 10, 2011 at 12:15am

@sailordoc's mom...I feel the same way about having a hard time not being able to talk to my son everyday.  The transition has been much harder than I thought.  Although I did get his first letter today and I found I did not cry while my daughter read it out loud, but actually sat there with a smile from ear to ear. I really miss my son though and I can't wait too see him.

@ihgirl...I have always been proud to be an American but as you said I am more prouder now than ever before and even more proud of our son and I know you are of yours:)

@navymom....we are a family that is new to the navy way as well.  This is a whole new experience like no other.  It is an exciting adventure and yet the emotional roller coaster is something that no one can understand, accept for all of us.  We are now part of the Navy club...lol!:)

@ the veteran's...FireTeamLeaderWife, Betsy and Diannep for being supportive and giving of their time to help us all understand the process as we go through the next phase of our Navy life.  PIR will be so worth all of this just to see our Sailors full of well deserved honor.

And lastly...hugs to all you ladies as we continue tomorrow and all our worry for the next 8 weeks!:)

I wanted to ask a question regarding the form letter.  We just go our son's first letter and we have still not gotten a form letter.  I don't know if he forgot to put it in the letter or if it is still coming.  We got his box a few days ago and nothing was in there.  So I wanted to see all what info was in the form letter.  We already know his division and PIR date since we got a phone call on Sunday.  He even gave us his address and I even called the recruiter to make sure I was mailing the letters properly.  I am afraid I am going to miss some pertinent info that was on the letter, if anyone can help me with info I would so appreciate it!

Thank you Diannep....I will add a photo tonight.  It will look much better than the silhouette!:) and also thank you to FireTeamLeader for helping me get this group started you are great!!:)

mome2jord:  Would you like to add a pik to replace the silhouette pik on this page?  If so, just google "Navy pictures" and find one that you like...or any kind of pik you want.  Save it....then go to Options at the top of this page, then EDIT, then IMAGE.  You click on the little camera to "upload" the pik.  It will let you browse through your saved piks and upload it.  Then hit "save" at the bottom before exiting the page.

NavyMom:  Feel free to start a discussion up above for Ship 12 Div 030 if you are sure that is your SR's division number (I assume the recruiter gave it to you?).  Others will find it as they get their division numbers and join.  We ask that you all also continue to stay on this main page as that is where we will be dispensing info, but it is nice to have your discussion group too to get to know other ladies who have SRs with yours.

One point of interest:  Some of you may have received mailing addresses for your SRs from the recruiter.  It is ok to use that now if you really want to; however, we suggest you write yours letters but wait for the form letter address to mail them all at once.  SRs love getting mail all at once.  Plus, the form letter address (written in by your SR) is the correct one.  Sometimes the recruiters' addresses are not quite right...although the letters eventually find their way to your SRs most times.

Mail is held from the SRs for the first 2 weeks of bootcamp.  They first get to write on a Sunday, mailed out on Monday.  Many times, your first letters will "cross in the mail" with their first letters to you.  And they may ask why you have not written?  That is the reason.

So no hurry to get letters in the mail until the form letter gets to you since they won't be delivered to your SR for 2 weeks anyway.  If possible, wait for that form letter address!
