Each tear shed and moment spent on sleepless nights will not go away during the next eight weeks, but to know we have a support system where we all share the same goal, will help lift our spirits as we continue through this exciting journey together!!! Hello everyone! I have also started planning the trip to PIR in January! Glad to be part of such a wonderful group. Our son is our oldest and the most recent member of our family to join the military. I couldn't be a more Proud American!
Good Morning new Navy Moms and I can also say Welcome to the first group of our new year! You are in for the ride of your life ladies! We will be here for you with smiles, ((hugs)), laughs and maybe some tears. It's a crazy life, but we are all here for the same reasons. We are proud of our loved one's choice to serve in our Navy! When you need words of encouragement or just to talk to someone who knows how you are feeling, come here. We all understand.
I'm Betsy, as diannep and FTLW told about you about (or should I say warned you, lol?) I am currently an empty nester mom of 5, but I'm always hoping one or two will still come home, :). My youngest son enlisted in the Navy while still in his Senior year of high school. He is now in Pensacola after graduating from BC last winter. He is awaiting his Orders now and will be on his way soon as a CTT. We also have yet another sailor in our family (well, soon to be in our family), as my daughter's fiance is an ET on a nuke sub in Hawaii, which is where they both live.
Hi, my son left for BC on 10/31. We were so hoping for PIR to be 12/29, but I received his form letter on Monday and now know it will be 1/6. The note he wrote on the back of his form letter was so upbeat. I'm so proud of him!! The hardest thing I have found, is the not being able to talk to him whenever I want. I'm so use to just picking up the phone or sending a text several times a day....the withdrawal is not fun, but I'm making the best of it by writing everyday.
Thank you to the N4Moms veterans that help provide all this wonderful information. I love to be prepared and know what's going on and this site is the greatest. Thank you so much!
Hi, mome2jord. Thanks so much for starting this group! As you can see, FTLW (FireTeamLeaderWife) has started you off with her wonderful info and will continue with more...she is wonderful! I am another N4Moms veteran here to help as well. Been on the site since Nov 2010 when my son left for bootcamp. Please ask any questions that you have....Lala, Betsy, and Sandy should be joining here soon. Lala makes beautiful PIR ribbons for those who want them to wear. She has been on the site since her daughter left for bootcamp somewhere around Spring 2010. Betsy had a sailor by last Dec. And Sandy had a sailor by May 2010. So all of us will share our experiences and help your group through!
Thanks again for taking charge of a group! Have a great day!
Hello!
FireTeamLeaderWife here!
My Sailor PIR’d on 05/26/2011.
So I am a “junior vet”, (don’t know how much longer I can claim that – only when I mess up, huh!) as I have only been on the site for about five months since our son’s PIR.
I will check in here once and awhile to see if I can answer any questions and lend some support. There will be a few other veteran moms along to lend a hand and support you all through your PIR experience. diannep, LaLa Ribbon Queen, Betsy, momofPensacolesailor, Sandy’s Sailor son, and possibly JessicaBSailormom. We have a few others that heklp out when we have SPECOPS in the groups, sjtina and skyler to name a couple. Others drop in occasionally too…plus we are always looking for more to “join the ranks”. Things change in the military and we like to give out the most current info that we can so moms that have just gone through this help a lot.
I’ll also be loading up the discussion Forum area with lots of info to help you along during your PIR experience. Please feel free to add your own discussions and start your divisional discussions.
How to add a Discussion - Go to the bottom left corner of the DF area (It's actually just above the comment box here.) and click "Add a Discussion".
Fill in the Title and any description you like.
For DIV discussion Titles a suggestion would be:
SHIP ##/ DIV ###
Simple as that! Then the other members from your div can reply and you can connect up even closer there.
Remember that you are ALL part of this TG though and to stay on the main pages to talk here too! Plus, we veteran moms mostly stay on the main pages of the groups. There are 7-8 PIR groups running at one time and so we do not get to the DF's as much. We do check them as often as we can...OPSEC rules apply there also.
Welcome everyone to the group PIR 01/06/12....my son shipped out to bootcamp on Nov 1. He is the first in our family from both sides to join the military and my first baby to leave home. I am one proud mom and yet I miss him so much. It truly is an emotional roller coaster and and an exciting experience all rolled up in one. I have begun the planning and countdown to see our son...please feel free to share stories, feelings and let us all know how we can best support each other and the best thing will be planning this graduation day together....we will all make it through one step at a time!!!:)
