~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I believe the 27th was there first real day, the 26th or 27th. Due to the holidays, they were placed on P-Hold, poor babies.
Craig - any idea what day our SRs are on? I have been reading the day by day link you posted. Since the form letter was mailed on the 17th I am calculating 2-6? Since I am clueless on how this works please give me your best guess-timate. Thanks!!
KLO - I'm actually the owner/admin of NavyDEP.com. I've been helping deppers since 2007. Can you pm me your sons user name over there (NavyDEP.com). I'm always curious about the future sailors I help, and how they are doing.
All - I know most of you guys know this, but for those that don't. Here is the schedule of what happens day-per-day at bootcamp (give or take a day). I had a nuke girl that loved to write document everything. She did an awesome job. Just find out what day your sailors on, and you'll know what's happening...
K's Mom, :) When you are able too, please thank your nephew from me. I truly do know how hard they are working out there.
Craig, I love that piece from Mark Twain. I'm passing that onto my sailor.
KLO-navymom, ((hugs)) and I'm so sorry for you loss.
Kanesmom, My ((hugs)) and prayers go out to you and your family.
Craig - It is beautiful. I can't wait to send it to my SR.
Kanesmom - I am sorry to hear about your father. I am so proud that your sons new family was there to comfort him and that he was able to leave. My mother passed was on 12.13.12. My son left of 12.12.12. We have not told him yet as it he requested to not be told if it happened. My mom and he weren't very close. But the loss of a grandparent is never easy! My thoughts are with you and your family.
We to got a letter yesterday 12.27.12. I was heading to the store and stopped at the mailbox. Got his letter and was so excited I couldn't back the car up! I had to go to the neighbors to turn around. Ran into the house so my husband and I could read it together. He sound really good and said that he can't believe he has already been there for 11 days. :) He also said that when they first got there - he was sitting next to a guy. Come to find out it was they same guy he had been talking to on the DEP site. He said they have become good friends! We are so proud of him. Our daughter who returned to her apartment at college today said she also received one. He sounded really good in her letter also.
I can't wait for the phone call! Does anyone know what day they usually call?
One recruit is designated Recruit Chief Petty Officer (RCPO) - the recruit who is given the responsibility of taking charge of the division when the RDCs are absent, in ceremonial situations including inspections, and while marching in formation. They are responsible for the overall organization of the recruits to do their tasks, and even some paperwork.
Under him in the chain of command are the Watch Section Leaders. They are in charge of assigning watch duty to the recruits in their section, and, under the supervision of the RDCs and RCPO, keep an eye on those recruits.
Starboard Watch means the division was separated into two halves - Port (left) and Starboard (right) sections. In a barracks, this is pretty literal - they are separated according to whether their racks are located on the left side of the room and the right side of the room. Each section takes turns taking watch duty - with a two-section setup, that means that they have watch every other day.
I just ordered my son's boot camp coin! Thanks Marcia for posting your pic!!!!
