~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@VIP nana..you aren't doing anything wrong. You click to join the group and then one of the admin has to add you. They usually get to it within a day so just keep checking. But don't worry about missing anything right now, no one has posted any pictures from yesterday's PIR....
@Diannep...thanks for sharing that story. He sounds like one in a million, God bless him and his family!
diannep thank you for posting about Brett. what a tenderhearted young man. He is a courageous hero and will be in our prayers.
This is my friend Brett Parks. Brett was the reason my son went into the Navy...he is a lifelong friend and went in a year before my son did. His mom and I have been lifelong best friends, as are our parents. Brett is based in Jacksonville FL. He was at his 2nd job as a personal trainer at an apt complex when a man shouted for help as he was getting mugged. Brett jumped into action to help, and was shot in the abdomen. Should have bled to death right there...didn't. Should have bled to death in the surgery done to stop the bleeding (no time for repairs then, although injuries were significant). He didn't. He lost a kidney, lost lots of his colon (has temp colostomy bag), nicked his aorta, eventually lost his lower right leg due to blood loss from severed femoral artery. He was "out" for 2-3 weeks after injury, not even aware that he had endured about 6 surgeries by the time he was brought back to consciousness. Didn't realize he had no lower leg right away. His 7 mo pregnant wife was by his side...as were his mom, family members, friends, and his in laws--he was missing his 16 mo old son terribly. He had a day named for him in Dec by the mayor of Jacksonville for his bravery. He was transferred to the VA Hospital in Tampa in Dec, before his daughter's birth (which he obviously missed). He has had 2 more surgeries since being there...to repair a problem with an earlier surgery. But through it all, he is humble. Says he did nothing that anyone else wouldn't have done. He saved the life of the mugging victim who was uninjured. The shooter was caught...22 yrs old. Brett was just presented the Medal of Merit by our governor here in FL which is what the picture is. You can only get it once in a lifetime...and only 4 have received it from him. He is my hero, although he doesn't consider himself a hero. He has been a witness for all of us, and so has his family. They love the Lord. He says he has no anger or bitterness....God is good! Please pray for Brett and his family. I miss my friend, his mom. She has been up there pretty much non-stop since Oct (5 hours away), and now alternates between him in Tampa and helping with his babies in Jacksonville, but has had to make a couple of visits home because her father is not well, and her husband just found out recently he has prostate cancer (surgery took care of it, they hope!). Can you imagine dealing with all of that? Prayers are much appreciated! I wanted to share this....because you are looking at a picture of a true hero.

Is there a forum for SHIP 14 (USS ARIZONA) DIVISION 077
Good morning, have a great day :-)
Good Morning All!
Got another short but sweet letter at last from SR. He started writing Jan 9 and ended it on Jan 20.......sounds like he has a busy schedule. Not a whole lot to report. He never did fill out that darn questionnaire I sent him. Anyway, it was great to hold that letter and know that our days are counting down and I can ask all the questions I want and get some answers soon.....
Marie,
Facebook page to check out is 900 Division Great Lakes,IL US Navy....one person posted pics from today but more are sure to follow in the next few days. Good luck. I did not see my SR but hopeful more pics will follow.
