N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I watched the game at my neighbor's house, we don't have TV.  Big Broncs fans.  I can't believe that field goal.  I'll tell my SR only because the field goal was so cool.  He was a kicker in high school. But really, how did that happen?!

Comment by Ole-CorpsmanMom on January 13, 2013 at 1:01am

LouieLou - I feel the same.  I am not sure if I should tell my son about the packers.  But at least the bronco's defense showed up to play!  haha  Congrats britefuture on the Raven's win!

Louielou, we hare HUGE Ravens fans. I wrote a play by play as the game was played. What an amazing game, huh. My SR is going to be in shock. We never thought Flacco had it in him to beat Manning. Great game!

Thanks Regi. My SR is in 091 and is Nuke. That stinks but is out of our hands so I'll just savor every moment that I have with him. I guess I'll ask, in my next letter, for him to decide what he wants us to bring.

To louielouship03div092.   definitely DON''T tell.  He'll be devastated!  ;)

I'm debating on if I should tell my son or not that our Broncos lost. He is going to be so bummed.

Comment by diannep on January 12, 2013 at 7:29pm

Yes, Regi:  Thanks for posting that.  All cells, laptops, anything not issued to them by the Navy, will need to be transferred to them at the airports the next day when all meet them there....or...for those staying in GL for A School, they can return from liberty with these items (they move over to GL A School base shortly after PIR concludes).  Nothing can be transferred to them while they are still on RTC.

Just got a phone call from my son in 092.  They gave him a 10 minute call.  So excited!  They are alive and doing well other than quite a few with colds.  He says to encourage families/friends to keep writing.  It's what he looks forward to each and every day.   He said that those who were working ship's staff on Tuesday didn't have the chance to make phone calls last week.  He did share that those graduating in Nuke will ALL be flying out on Friday night after PIR at midnight.  He said to bring "contraband" such as cell phones, laptops, etc. to the airport and not graduation since they'll have to be back on base for about 3 hours before heading to the airport.

MTRanchMom, I don't think either of them realized just how much they mean to each other until now. She didn't go away to college, she opted to start at our Community College. He harassed her almost every day. She, at one point, was going to do Marine Corp butt changed her mind. She just isn't real sure what she wants to do yet whereas he's ALWAYS wanted NAVY. He was looking into Naval Academy but something about Sea Cadets changed his mind to enlist. Anyway, this has been a great experience for family. So far, lol.

@brite future, my son called yesterday (friday) and talked to his little sister.  They have always been super close. Anyway, he said "Hey $#@butt" She cried. She said that if he were having a hard time he would have called her Annie.  He told her he loved her, but the "nickname" meant more to her.  I really miss evesdropping on their conversations.  They have a really awesome bond.
