Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on January 28, 2012 at 11:15pm: Demetris is right on the hotels filling up some weekends....especially the larger suites (like Residence has...2 bdrm 2 bth in addition to their studios) that accommodate larger groups. If you book directly with the hotels, they have very liberal cancellations policies. Usually up to 24 hours before arrival.

Comment by diannep on January 28, 2012 at 11:12pm: Yes, correct, FTLW. Undesignated go to 4 weeks (or less) of A School at GL, then usually get leave, and then are sent to their ship.

Comment by MSmom on January 28, 2012 at 11:09pm: Proud mom 93. Sailors that are staying for a school in great lakes will have a very few minutes to spend with you right after graduation. Then they will be bused across the street to their a school. Between three and four they will be ready for you to pick them up at the visitor center. Then they will have liberty until nine or ten on Friday and saturday and Sunday. At graduation this week I was allowed to drive my friends sailor to her barracks. You just need your gate pass and your sailor has to show their id. Hope this helps.

Comment by diannep on January 28, 2012 at 10:41pm: GL A Schoolers will also have liberty after they check in on Friday...takes about 4 hours to move over there and then they have a few hours liberty before returning at night. They could miss a few hours of liberty if they have watch.
