Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Conny Ahoi on April 16, 2012 at 9:18am: Ship 7 Div 127 ... the door bell just rang (i have an awesome mailmen, each time i get a letter from my SR he rings the bell) i got another letter... things are speeding up he says ... he also talks about, that there is a chance that the div. get in the HALL OF FAME, i have no clue what that means in the bootcamp... could someone explain... i will pray 10 DAYS ... W O O H O O GOD BLESS YOU ALL SR's and MOMS and DADS and SISTERS AND BROTHERS and all the familie HAVE A BLESSED DAY

Comment by zStratMom on April 16, 2012 at 1:50am: Oooooh. You have now arrived at the antsy-dancey period! Divisions will begin Battlestations and some will get calls earlier than others. The early (low number) divisions go through first; hearing about the calls is a bit bittersweet for all the moms who have to wait on the last Battlestations of the PIR group (usually the next week). We celebrate with the early division numbers, but the waiting is really hard on us (both of my sons had “last” division numbers for the PIR).

These are GREAT calls, plenty of time in duration—be mindfull, the new sailors will be amped up on a TON of sugar and caffeine! They just visited the NEX and bought all manner of junk food . . . before they go back to the ship, they learn they still can’t take it with them, so they begin to share up and scarf all the goodies down. Don’t forget to ask if they know about their A-school travel; some will have had their orders and you want the day, the carrier, and either the flight number or time. Hopefully, you will also know the airport (O’hare vs Midway).

Also, a few of your Sailors may choose to “share” their call time. Once in a while, a ship mate needs extra time—for example, one with a pregnant wife. If your Sailor is generous with this time, be sure to acknowledge this gift.

Are you on a Facebook group for your PIR? If so, be logged in during this time, because your Sailor can elect to use some of their “call” time on a computer. You—and other family / loved ones can chat with your Sailor there, too.
