@chibi's mom: so sorry to hear the news about your mom. just my opinion, but i think i'd wait for awhile until you know more.
They let us get as many gate passes as we want.Does that mean we need one each time we go to the base?
looking forward to pir, but very nervous. I have never flown before, much less book a flight, car and room. and I want to ask advice. my mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer. she goes in for surgery on the 1st and we won't know what stage she is in. should I tell my daughter at graduation?. or wait until we know more about her condition. thank you
jrb- when my Sailors were there (PIR July 2010 and Oct 2010) some of the Sailor left on Sat and some on Sunday. Most will leave on Saturday now but there may be some who stay until Sunday. It really depends on what flights are available. The orders normally come in in numerical order so the higher division numbers have a better chance of staying in great lakes an extra day than the lower divisions do. My daughter had 13 DIV's and 170 Sailors all left for Pensacola on a chartered flight but there were still a lot of Sailors who didn't have flights until Sunday. If they are on a chartered flight you won't be able to meet them at the airport to hand off phones etc. I hope none of you have to deal with Chartered flights.
AWARDS: There can be Scholastic awards, Battle E (an efficiency award), Hall of Fame, and Captains Cup are some of the awards they can win and be recognized for at PIR. They are all based on how well the division has done as a whole. Hall of Fame is the hardest to get. The recruits can receive "hits" for doing something wrong or for not not doing something. They have to have below a certain number of hits to get Hall of fame and very few divisions achieve that. There may not even be a Hall of fame division for a specific PIR if one of the divisions didn't receive below a certain number of hits.
I got two letters today, no call this week:(. They got more vacinations and had formal photos taken.
@ Conny Ahoi: Well, I'm in the same PIR group as you and according to the countdown clock, we will be able to print our passes tomorrow. 11 days before PIR.
my daughter is going to Penscola also.
LaLa- My son will be going to A-School in Pensacola for AM structure..Where their any sailor leave on Sat. to go to Pensacola or did they stay longer in GL
