Does anyone know the proper terminology for the different clothing such as the digital camo, PT gear, whites, Peanut Butter etc?. Also, when they wear which?
I JUST read that they have to use their first paycheck to pay for alot of it. It said it costs about $1,000??? Does anyone know more about this? Thank You!
Thanks Julie, it is good to see you all are starting to get those letters. Keep writing them every day, They live for letters from home :-)
FTLW: Thank you so much for that information!! We are just changing hotels. He wants us to stay at Keylime Cove. I would like to spare that expense on my first night there.
...also....1-1 means week/day 1 of actually training. There are 6 training weeks before they become sailors. These weeks usually start a week or two after they arrive at bootcamp. The days are counted 1-5, and weekends/holidays don't count. They are on "hold" day count during those days. By 6-5 (week 6, day 5), they are ready to do BattleStations...which is their final test (see discussion group above) before they trade their RECRUIT caps for NAVY caps and are now sailors. If your SRs give you the date that is 1-1 for them, you can mark it on your calendars and keep up with their training. Remember, weekends./holidays don't count in this day count!
emilysmomvivian: When they "lose" some shipmates in their division, it can mean several things: They could have been discharged....or, more likely...they were "asmoed" (setback) in training for one of several reasons: Illness, injury, academic failure, discipline reasons, language issues, etc. Those SRs will eventually join another PIR group that is at the same point of training that the SRs were when removed from their original divisions. Happens alot...but not all who leave the division are discharged...in fact, I would say that most are not discharged...just delayed.
I just added her ship to my name also :)
Ship 2 Div 925
Vivian, so glad the letters are coming, can't wait till they get ours. Hoping to see posts saying the SRs are getting our mail soon.
What ship and Division is Emily in?
*****I put mine AFTER my user name, it's easy to do that by going to "SETTINGS" at the top right, and adding it at the end of your User Name, if anyone wants to. That helps us all know who's in the same division, and maybe we can learn more about the SR's daily activities by knowing which Ship/Division.
I received a letter today! Well actually two, one for my husband and I and one for for my daughters recruiter. She wanted to give the future sailors and her old recruiting office a little bit of advice (get used to yelling). She said she didn't even know the date and that they hadn't "Got Holiday" which meant they couldn't go to church. She was also very excited about her Blue Camis (4 sets) and her dog tags she said she was already used to her boots (no blisters) She wrote that they have already lost 3 females YIKES what does that mean? How and why does this happen?? She said they only get to write on Sundays but hopefully they will eventually be able to write on Tuesday and Thursdays. SHe also said we start 1-1 again what does that mean? And she closed with SEND LETTERS PLEASE!!!! It was so good to hear from her but of course I have ton's of unanswered questions.
Sorry I was MIA today. My Sailor unexpectedly got 3 days off and decided to come home :-) So happy to see her today after 11 weeks. But I can tell you those 11 weeks didn't seem 1/10th as long as bootcamp :-) I hope you all had a great day. I will catch up on posts tomorrow ;-)
yes, dttbrammer: The SRs arrive up there at different times within the same PIR group. Those who arrive the earliest will be in the lower-numbered divisions...if not in the 800/900 divisions. Takes a while to fill up the divisions. Don't worry, they will make their PIR date! :-)
Looks good to me, FTLW!
