I just booked two nights at Quality Inn for $59 a night....but it only has a queen bed and not sure that is going to work. To be safe I went ahead and requested a roll-away too.
travel safely Z
Hi, everyone - I'll be away and will check in when I get back. Sending my best wishes for lots of letters this coming week!

Southwest is a good one to book with...no change fee, bags ship for free. They fly into Chicag0-Midway and to Milwaukee. Milwaukee is less traffic, about a 45 minute drive to GL (interstate)--many times cheaper than Midway. Just remember that the sailors usually leave out of Chicago, so for those planning to meet their sailors at the airports to wait with them, if you are leaving out yourself from Milwaukee, make sure to book out later Sat. night of even Sunday if you can.
Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, and Courtyard are all Marriott hotels in the area. Sarge's MeetNGreet is near them. We stayed at Residence and loved it. They have a PIR rate, but we used our AAA rate. They have studios and 2 bdrm 2 bath units for those with large groups. All have full kitchens. All also have PIR shuttle ($3/pp each way, sailor can return with you, usually for free). Oh, and Residence has a free hot buffet breakfast, and I understand they serve it earlier on PIR day (we didn't know that when there and just ate a bite in the room).
Thankfully, we don't have to worry about flights as we'll be driving the 6 hrs from St. Louis. With gas prices what they are here ($3.90/gallon), I'm also thankful for my hybrid car!
Wyobraskamom and Lala - thanks for the lodging help/info. We settled on the Quality Inn ($89/night) as my daughter's boyfriend may be joining the 4 of us (if his college finals allow) and they had a double queen room with a sofabed.
Julie - We've barely had a winter here this year. My son (12) was hoping for at least one good snow this year but we've only had a couple of inches. I'd love to see pics of your beautiful snow!! :)
I hope you all have a blessed evening!
Welcome to all the new members!
I you have a really tight budget you can check out the Navy Lodge. Their prices are $67 a night for the PIR rate and they have kitchenettes for the same price. We stayed there and were very happy. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. They also have a free pass to use at the NEX down the street. You normally have to have military ID to shop there.. They also provide a free bagged breakfast to take with you to PIR.
If you are missing the box try looking at other doors of your home and under your porch. One mom last year found hers weeks later at the front door. They always went in through the garage and she never thought about it being left by the door. She went around the front to work in a flower bed and there it was lol.
It's a beautiful day here in Wyoming. It has to be close to 70! So odd that Southern California is getting snow and we have 70s. We are at 6200 feet so I am sure it is coming :)
Proud Mom we ended up with the Comfort Inn. I only called a couple of places but it seemed like the best deal and had good reviews. It doesn't have a pool but for the price and the free breakfast we can do with out a pool! So glad to hear you got your letter. I have read mine about 10 times already :)
Hello all! Happy Saturday. It's a rainy, hail-filled day here in Missouri. We received out letter today - Yippee! She did write a note on the back, as well. She said "boot camp sucks but it really isn't that bad". LOL - not really sure what that means. :o)
Julie - so happy you got your letter, too!
For those of you that have booked your hotel - what seems to be the best deal?
Yes expensive for sure! Thanks again!
yeah, those are expensive
I believe you can get st issued ID from the drivers license office as well if anyone doesn't have school ID's but the birth certificate should be enough for those people.
