Ok, so on some of the past PIR groups, it is just too hard for the ladies to wash the items in the box. So many keep it "in tack" and periodically "smell" the clothes....sigh...have to say, never crossed my mind to do that when my son's arrived home when he was at bc....into the laundry they went! "locker room" smell, as prayin' mentioned, it not too delightful! :-) But everyone has to do with the box what they want to...we usually call the box "the kid in a box...w/out the kid!"
prayin'navymom! I hear ya~ I did the same thing!
1ProudMom...that was so adorable about what your husband said to you about the box - obvously he has searched it well too! My poor husband is just plain scared to say anything to do with my son, boot camp, or anything related to Navy, for fear I might bust out into tears. You should how quiet it is my house! Ha ha ha
juliebelle----Awe....well, I am glad you feel better. Just a little tid bit of info....Brett's box was not sealed well...on that note...One thing is for sure, the post office people probably are familiar with "the box" and know what is in that box...yes juliebelle, it is precious to you, but it is what it is....dirty clothes! LOL
It's to their benefit to call you as soon as it arrives. They can't risk having their post office smelling like a locker room...I am sure it will be there real soon!
Smile, n' have a great day and weekend ladies!
Good luck, Julie! Praying that it's there waiting for you!
juliebelle - Got my fingers crossed, toes crossed...and praying of course :)
Happy Friday, girls!
Thanks for making these weeks tolerable and so much easier to wade through!
Prayin - I LOVE what you said about searching every pocket, etc!! I was at work when my daughter's box came and my husband was at home. As soon as I got home, I was digging through the box, checking every pocket, in her shoes, etc and my husband walks in and simply says, "Honey, I've already checked." I respond with, "What are you talking about?" (knowing that he clearly wouldn't know what I was doing) He says, "I already checked everything for any kind of note." LOL! So that box got checked twice. :o) I knew there probably was nothing but just had to be sure!
diannep-I completely understand there is no time for them to write, which is why I wasn't expecting anything, plus if there was any chance he could get busted for doing it, there is no way he would have taken that chance :)
However; even knowing that he probably couldn't or wouldn't, didn't keep us from searching every single pocket, the cell phone, every square inch of that box, etc...for one...ha ha ha
prayin'navymom: They have no time when packing up that box to write at note...they are having orders shouted at them...some get so stressed that they send home wallets, phone cards, etc (they can keep both of these). Some have managed to write on the "flaps" of the boxes...but most don't. They have no paper to write a note, unless they had some in their pockets when they arrived.
So please understand that there is just no time to write a note...this is one of the first things they do upon arrival at bootcamp, and believe me, the yelling/shouting is going on...and orders must be followed...to the "t" ! :-)
julie, that letter broght tears to my eyes, so glad he made it through and on time. The first letter or two can be very hard. But that first letter is usually written during the hardest part of bootcamp. It really does get better and you can tell a difference in them as each letter arrives :-)
