Good morning! Opened the box yesterday with his gf.:( Thank God! His biblle is not in there! Woo-hoo! There was no note, or anything, but I didn't expect anything. I could tell he was nervous when he boxed it though because he started writing his name on the box, crossed it out, and wrote mine lol. Apparently they are given one chance to write in their "pre-navy" writing because I saw no caps that everyone has been talking about, and the writing was still microscopic in size..ha ha ha. No letter received.
juliebelle-I feel the same way about the mail. I race home telling myself not to expect anything yet, but am filled with dissappointment each time I pull out nothing but junk out of that box! At this point unless it is a letter from him, it is ALL junk! LOL. I hope you got your box! I
Amanda-Congrats on the news! How exciting!
Lisa-I am glad to hear you are feeling better!
Have a great day everyone!!! Thanks for all the awesome messages and information!
Good morning, everyone! Hoping this is a good day for all!
Hello to all the new members. I have not been here since yesterday and I am trying to catch up. ;)
Another milestone reached today. Received the form letter with a short note on the back. My SR sounds like he is doing good. Was put second in command of the drill team and will be performing at graduation, he asked us to wish him luck on that. Had to laugh at the last line: P.S.The food is not that bad.
So happy for those who have received your boxes and/or letters. For those who have not, I pray they come soon.
Made the first step in planning the trip to PIR with making a hotel reservation. Starting to feel real!
"P" days are rough...nobody knows what they are doing and they have to learn it fast. Lots of "hurry up and wait". It is very "mental". There is no physical excersizing yet...they have to be declared FFD - Fit For Duty before they can do any PT.
What diannep says is so true! I felt like I was on a Roller Coaster!
...but do you remember the seen in Parenthood with the Grandmother and she talked about the Merry Go round and the Roller Coaster?
Lisa: Just remember, bootcamp is an emotionally up and down experience for them...by the time you get a "down" letter from them, they could be doing fine. So try not to worry...it is not supposed to be easy or fun, but it "eases up" some by training week #4, which is about bootcamp week #6. Right now, they don't feel they can do anything right...and it is discouraging. But they get there! It gets better, try not to worry.
Wow, egg sized hail is crazy. I hope no on was hurt.
If you are on the forum pages on facebook they are doing away with those pages. Please spread the word to your friends and let them know that we welcome them to come to this site to meet others in their PIR group and Division. We are more than happy to answer questions they may have about bootcamp.
We just received two letters from our son! One was the form letter and one was a private letter! So happy! I am on cloud 9! He sounds like he is doing well and he is in the band! I was so prepared for his letter to be negative but it wasn't at all. He probably was trying to spare me. Plus he said they had not been cleared medically yet (as of Monday) so they hadn't started anything physical yet.
Lisa - I am thinking of you. Getting the letter was hard and good all at the same time. I know what you mean about it being emotional!
Welcome Petersmom! I'm so happy for you that you got the letter! I can't wait for ours!
Lala Ribbon - weather here in Missouri has been crazy, as well. There are areas around us that just had egg size hail.
Welcome diannep - Thanks so much for the info re: revision of the list. That eases my mind!
Julie - were you able to get to the post office?
juliebelle: Yep, talking (fraternizing) with the female SRs is grounds for discharge! They are very serious about that.
1ProudMom: They get a chance to update their PIR lists about 1-2 weeks before PIR. So there should be no problem!
