Thanks FTLW!
As I'm still trying to learn the ropes as well - I'm still a little confused.
If my daughter went in as an E-3 (I was confused and thought this was her rating) in Advanced Electronics (AECF), I would say her rating is AECF? If so, where does the E-3 come in and what is it called?
Please excuse my ignorance!! :)
Thanks everyone for the "welcomes". Hope you all have a great day! I am hoping to get the form letter today. Fingers crossed!
Good morning, all!
Wow juliebelle, that must have been a relief. My daughter first said she wanted to join the Marines but I swayed her towards the Navy :-)
Wow Wyobraskamom, that has been quite a journey already. So happy for you that he is finally there and getting this journey going for real. My daughter signed up on April 17th and left may 25th. I felt like I didn't have near enough time to prepare but I think that may have been easier than waiting and waiting and worrying about something happening to keep her from getting to go. Welcome to this group, I look forward to getting to know you and everyone else on here :-)
Hi, all. Just stopping in to introduce myself. I'm a mom of two sailors who have gone through BC in the past year. I'm spending more time right now with a couple groups who are closer to PIR, but will begin checking in here, too. Please feel free to connect and / or ask questions. Meanwhile, I know other volunteer veteran moms are taking good care of you!! ENJOY the journey--this is an experience for both You and your Sailor, and something you'll never forget. ;-)
Hello All!
My oldest son left on 3/6 from Denver Colorado for Great Lakes. I got the call at 10:50 PM that night saying that he had made it.
He has been in DEP for almost a year. He was originally given a different job and then was notified that his eye sight wasn't good enough. He got a different job which pushed out his ship date to 2 days before his one year mark in DEP. He ended up getting a wart on his foot 3 weeks before ship and we fought, prayed, and got pedicures to ensure that he was able to go.
I miss him like crazy but was so happy to learn today that he is in a performing division which is something he was excited about doing. His dad was in a performing division as well when he was in the Navy.
The box made me cry of course but the days are getting easier! One week in! Anxiously awaiting the form letter now so we can start sending all these letters. We have the address now but I am bit hesitant to send them until we get the official word.
I look forward to sharing this experience with all of you. Thank God for this site!
Yay, another group. I know you are all anxious to get started and have this bootcamp experience behind you :-) The good thing is you shouldn't have to worry about snow in May lol. And I am sure your Sailors will graduate in the Dress White Uniforms or Cracker Jack's as they are sometimes called. Shout Wipes will become your Sailors new best friend lol.
I am Lora, better known as Lala the Ribbon Queen lol. I have been helping on this site for almost 2 years. My daughter left for bootcamp May 25th 2010. I cannot believe it has been that long. It seems like on a few short months ago. I know 8 weeks seems like an eternity but it will be over before you know it. The days will drag but the weeks pass quickly :-) For now get your pen to paper and start writing those letters. Mail call is the sweetest sound in the world to the recruits other than when they get to call home and hear your voice :-)
If you have any questions at all please ask them on this page. There are several of us who are hear every day helping out and answering questions. Welcome to your PIR Group.
Hi. I'm another N4Moms veteran joining the group to help. Thanks for starting the group, juliebelle!
Get ready for a great adventure! My son just recently discharged from the Navy, but I have been helping on the PIR groups for so long now, I hope to continue!
