For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

BC is a new experience for us! My son left from Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio on 3/6 to Great Lakes RTC. I got the call early Wed morning (1am) that he was there and safe. He is a gunner's mate and will do A school at Great Lakes also.

He is my oldest, also have a son who just turned 11. Always knew he would join the military, even though I was in denial at times. Since he was little he has loved war history and know all the specs on all ships, aircraft and weapons used. He was in NJROTC for four years and was on the Armed Drill Team, Shooting, Orienteering, and Physical Fitness team. His DEP seemed to drag on forever. He was originally suppose to ship in Oct. 2011 as AO, but developed MRSA on his knee and was held up. Had to resign a contract and get a new rate. I believe everything happens for a reason. He was able to get a rate that better suits him, spend a little more time at home and in that time, met a wonderful girl that we would be proud to welcome to the family someday. While I miss him so, I am also so very proud of him and cannot wait to see what his future holds in this new adventure!

I look forward to getting to know all the Navy Mom's as we support our son's!!!

My Sailor PIR’d on 05/26/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF Reservist wife for 27 + years…I know …not Navy…but I am familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments…one right after 9/11 and most recently a year ago…our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.

I am a “veteran” mom on the PIR groups mostly. I have been on them now for the last 10 months and we have 5-7 PIR groups running at the same time.

I will check in here to see if I can answer any questions and lend support. There will be a few other veteran moms along to lend a hand and support you all through your PIR experience. Others drop in occasionally too…plus we are always looking for more to “join the ranks”. Things change in the military and we like to give out the most current info that we can so moms that have just gone through this help a lot.

I have a lot of Discussions with information to provide you along the way. I will post as the subjects come up! Please ask any and all questions…there are NO dumb ones Folks!
