Oh my goodness............REALLY????? 7 days???? Who would have thought we would have make it this far without totally losing it or crying our eyes out and not finding them!
I miss my SR like everyone but I am VERY impressed how we all supported each other in different ways.
Can't wait to wake up on Friday May 4th, knowing that is the day we will be seeing our young SR's marching in as SAILORS!
I agree juliebelle-what the heck? It is VERY ugly on here today :(
Our SR's rock!
Enjoy the journey-they are what is important!
Ok, here's my new theme song:
There must be some word today from my sailor son so far away.
Please, Mister Postman, look and see.
Is there a letter, a letter for me?
I've been standing here waiting, Mr. Postman, oh, so patiently
For just a card or just a letter sayin' he'll be glad to see the family.
(Mister Postman look and see.)
Please, Mister Postman, oh yeah.
(Is there a letter, a letter for me?)
Please, please, Mister Postman, oh yeah.
(You know it's been a long, long time.
Since I heard from that sailor of mine.)
So many days have passed me by.
You saw the tears in my eyes.
You wouldn't stop to make me feel better
By leavin' me a card or a letter.
We have new members joining; YAY! I will be posting this once a day till PIR, so we are sure everyone gets their Gate Passes.
GATE PASSES---GATE PASSES---GATE PASSES
Our Vehicle Gate Passes are available to be printed from the RTC Website.
http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp
Your PASSWORD must be typed in ALL CAPS.
It is on the FORM LETTER we got from our SRs at the beginning of boot camp.
You might print an extra copy while you are at it. :)
All of a sudden I'm not getting emails for new posts. On any group that I'm following. Anyone know if something's wrong?
Lala - Thanks I was thinking along the same lines as you are with using our N4M screen name and picture. What do they say about "great minds"?
RE: our homeless Vets....I agree, I wish there was someway to have provisions in place for our vets, not only the injured, but the ones who want to work but cannot find jobs....Let's hope this economy gets better by time our Sailors are ready to become civilians again.
7 days and counting. :)
Now on a more serious note..... Before my daughter joined the Navy I never really thought about the impact that our military service members have on our everyday lives. I had never thanked someone for their service. Not because I wasn't grateful but because I had just never really thought about it that much. I think we get so busy and so involved in our own lives and families we don't take the time to think about what our service members must go through every day. Now, I am a changed woman lol. I always thank service members for their service when I see them. And when I see a homeless man with a sign saying homeless veteran needs food, well my heart just breaks. I saw a veteran like this while we were waiting in line for a concert. I talked to him and asked him about his service. He was Navy and was wearing a cap with his ship on it. He served 16 years and got out after he was injured in a helicopter crash. He was missing a leg and was in a wheelchair. He was such a delight to talk to. I told him about our daughter, our soon to be Sailor at the time (she was still in bootcamp) and he said to me please thank her for her service. I had tears streaming down my face. I gave him a hug and thanked him for all he gave for our country. I gave him every bit of cash we had on us $60.00 and I would have given more if I had it. We did without snacks and drinks at that concert and were happy to do so. I know some would say I was foolish for giving him my cash and that he would probably just buy alcohol with it but I don't care. It breaks my hear to know that so many men and women have risked their lives so that we could live and speak freely and they come back broken and wounded and they are not taken care of like they should be. Our government should be taking care of our service men and women after they have done their duty and served our country. A man who served his country and lost his leg should not be homeless and begging for money or food. He should have a home, a warm place to sleep and plenty of food to eat. It's just my opinion but because of him I am entitled to it.
You know you could make a sign for your door, with your screen name, Navy for moms, and your screen picture. You could also change all your screen pics to be a photo of you so all your friends on here recognize you :-) This is my version of what it could look like lol. I had to take a pic of it because I couldn't figure out how to save it in a way that would allow me to post it on here. I need lessons from FTLW lol. But you get the idea, I'm sure. It sounds like lots of fun to me.
