For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

(other family members have shared theirs with me, but so much nicer to get my "own:)....my SR shared more in this one letter in all the others combined! Will type the highlights up in a bit, and post to Ship 1 DIV 925 forum.....hope everyone else hears from their SR!!

It would be best, from what I have learned on this site, to make sure that your sailor has a phone card when moving over to A School. They may also be able to borrow a cell phone from someone already living on GL A School base, but best to have the card just in case. That way, they can call you when they are ready to be picked up. No way to guess a time for that. You may have to sign out your sailor? He/she will know this and tell you in the call. After liberty, sailors can return to A School base with cellphones....but not ones still on RTC.

**I have another question I’m hoping someone can answer ... I recall reading a few days back that it is best to have your recruit meet you at the GL Welcome Station just outside the main gate after they are settled in A school on Friday ... What would be the best time to suggest we meet??

Thanks so much for the comments on my granddaughter! She's such a little spitfire! She's only 19, and her facebook fan page has 45,467 fans. (Modeling Career). She's so helpful to girls wanting to model, and of course the guys love her. I guess this one swept her off her feet!
