Military personnel receive LES'...Leave and Earning Statements. They are able to access them through the DoD myPay site. They do not receive these in the mail. W-2's will be on there too.
Pay is on the first and fifteenth (it will show up a day early for those with a Navy Dee account from.what I have read. Actually, my sons does too evem though he uses a regular bank)...the combination of these two make up the monthly pay...a little over $1300.00.
I have some links...I will post them later...on phone!

Aaron'smom- unless you are on the account OR he gives you all the info so you can access it online, you cannot see his statement. He will have to look that up many days from now when he can get to the internet.

Maybe one of the vet moms can let you know if they get any kind of paystub? The 1st deposit will not be as much since they take out for uniforms so the 2nd deposit should be closer to the "real" amount. Come to think of it, this is something that should have been covered with each SR in their financial class.

Aaron's Mom, I'm far from an expert, but I can maybe help with what I read about mail. I'm reading the posts for PIRs that have just graduated. The consensus seems to be; STOP sending letters when you get the I'm a Sailor call. They say that seems to be the best time to stop, so the mail doesn't get returned or re-routed and lost.

CB, WOW very detailed!! Love it! Sounds like he is doing great! Prayers to all our Son's and daughters these next few weeks as I'm sure they are getting a little worn down. Our daughter mentioned in her letter she thought she was going to be able to call us today but sadly nothing today. Did anyone else get one? It's all getting so very exciting!!! Can hardly wait 21 more days!!!

I got a really long letter today. I love it!  I have some questions for the experts. . . He says until I told him how much his deposit was for, he had no idea how much he got paid.  How can we see the statement?

And he says the letters take about a week to get there.  So when do we stop writing to them?  A week before PIR?  He has dive prep in GL.  Will they forward whatever mail they receive after PIR to whatever his new address is?

Comment by Wyobraskamom on April 12, 2012 at 7:59pm

CB I am sooo happy that you got a letter!

We received 3 letters from our son today.

He mentioned that they will be able to start writing more.  He mentioned the baby division and that their RDCs make theirs look like kindergardners :)  He said they had taken ID pictures.  He said Hell Week was coming up (this week) so they were all nervous.  He said that 925 will be performing in the 4/27 PIR so watch up 925 moms, I bet we will see them on the RTC site!  He said he gets liberty on May 28th??  Not sure what that is about :)  He also said he has now been there longer than he has left and was very happy for that.  All and all a great letter!  He is really excited for PIR but is still nervous about performing as the Drum Major.  Great to hear from him and great to hear him be so positive!

Thanks all! So happy about the letters! So here's some tidbits from his GF's letter. He writes her a little bit each day, then sends it on Sunday, so she gets all the different daily emotions in one letter. My thoughts are in italic.

Sunday was holiday routine and they "sorta" got 6 hours off.

On April 1st he got his leave and earnings statement, deposit was smaller than it will usually be because paying for uniforms.

He signed up for the Montgomery Bill and it takes out about $100/month for a year, but that will be worth about $100,000 - 4 years of college.

He opened an account at the Navy Fed Credit Union. (They had a chance in P-Days, and then this chance during Finance class, and will get another chance towards the end.)

He sent his debit card home in "The Box" and needs it sent back to him. He thinks he will need it towards the end of boot camp, they just told them they might and that they should have them sent to them.

He's still pretty sick, but isn't gonna let that slow him down. Did great on his tests even tho.

Talked alot about "A" school. (seems they are now thinking a bit more about that and not so stressed about the present.I was glad to see that, and that he is able to let his mind relax and get out of boot camp a bit.)

Talked about PIR and how as much as he wants alone time with her, they need to be strong and wait till Liberty at A School because his family will be at PIR and time is so short. Then goes on to say we may be having 3 Sailors (he named them) with us during Liberty that he's friends with, and they all would like to have PIR Dinner together.

Some days the Division relaxes too much and he has to take the heat for it because of his job assignment, it falls on him. He wishes it would stay steady. (see... the roller-coaster ride happens to all our SRs)

His team "Killed it at Marlinspike", He was yelling alot, and now his voice hurts, they came in first place! (The Division was split up into 6 teams)

Send PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES and LETTERS- loves the lipstick kiss and perfume! (So GF's and wives...take note, put them INSIDE to save them from IT, LOL!)

Drew a map of where we MUST try to sit to see him best at PIR. (Very specific instructions!!! So I hope I don't have to hurt nobody to get my seat! LOL! Just Kidding...I think? Hmmm...Yep! Just kidding!)

There were 3 of them on snare drums at the start, and now he's the ONLY one, so he sure hopes he don't mess up, because it will be noticed if he does. (He hasn't played for over 6 years, so fingers crossed. LOL!)

He said they will not march in like the rest of the divisions, they will be waiting in their section to perform throughout the PIR.

This week, April 9th-15th is going to be crazy with 3 inspections, firearms, and a PFA, and he's sick. It's "Hell Week". May not have much of a chance for letters this week, even on Sunday.

He's lost almost all of his muscle, even with all of the extra IT he gets because of his MAA job. He wishes he could work out and feels scrawny. Can't wait to lift weights an work out again.

Misses his contacts, but is use to his BCGs.

And ended with LOVES the lipstick perfume letters. (awwww, how sweet, that's my boy, head over heels in love!)

EOD mom, hang in there. His emotions may have been down when he wrote from an azz chewing they all just got, and 2 hours after he sent it they may have done something awesome and he's happy as can be. These SRs are being subjected to things they never imagined, and adjusting to that has absolutely got most of them on emotional roller coasters. Your son, being EOD is with a tough group, and alot is expected. They tell them all the time that they are NOT going to make it, just so they will buck up and give it everything they've got, and they will dig deep and try harder. My son's letter said, "Even when we do something RIGHT...it's wrong." They have alot of boys mixed in his group and by golly the Navy is determined to make men out of em. It's a GROUP as a whole, so even the one's doing things correct hear the threats of being failed. It's all about peer pressure to benefit the group. Just keep sending encouragement, and tell him how proud you are of all the efforts he is putting in, like you always do. That's what they need to hear. He probably won't even remember writing to you how tough it was, they are stressed and exhausted, and stuff like that tends to come home to mom.

Amanda, I wonder if our boys know each other. Same Division! :)

Comment by Amanda (Ship2 DIV925) on April 12, 2012 at 3:55pm

Yeah!!!  Got a letter today!  I ususally get  them a few days late.

He is doing well.  Short letter due to time.  Listed what clothes he wants us to bring to graduation.  He will be staying @ GL for A School.

Lots of wedding plans. And a detailed drawing of where to sit for graduation.  LOL

He did give some names of SR's to write.  So those who are interested, please message me and I will get the names to you.  He only gave last names, so hopefully that will work.

He also stated that the SR who lost it on the day of phone calls was discharged. :o(

Their division won the academic flag and he is hopeful that they would earn the rest this week.

He is hoping to get phone call within the next week and can't wait to talk to us!

In the letters to GF, he mentioned another SR he was close to was having medical issues. Possible spider bite and had passed out.  He was sent to the med division and they are all worried that he will get held back.  As of the day the letter was written, they had not heard an update on him yet.  He asked for prayer for him.
