Good job, Crazy Blonde! Hope we get some more members on here from those slips of paper. Recruiters are supposed to tell families about this site, but not all do, and sometimes if they tell the DEPPERS, the DEPPERS don't pass on the info to their families. So we have to get the message out ourselves!
I just printed it out on a address label template and sent 90 or so that he can share:
It says:
There is a web page where the families of my shipmates
are sharing info and support while I am in boot camp.
Here's the web address: Lots of great info here.
http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir05042012
Because I'm afraid they will throw away LABELS, I just printed it on paper, and ran the sewing machine where each label line is (with no thread) That perforated each one so they tear off just like a label, but no sticky! He can give them to the SRs, so they can each have one to mail home. I'm also going to just add the phrase once to every letter from now on, just in case the RDC does not allow him to pass them out. (I included a note to the RDC asking them to please allow it, if it's possible.) So PLEASE lets ALL ask our recruits to share this info, so we can help others just like us. :)
HAA! Yes, we N4Moms veterans have heard about postcards being read outloud. That is why we suggest letters, or at least postcards inside an envelope. :-)
Yes, Crazy Blonde. It is very sad...so many have no clue about this group. One PIR group made up little N4Moms business cards and passed them out at the MeetNGreets and at PIR for those who didn't know. You will find this group invaluable during school time/duty stations too, so it's never too late! I didn't know about it...happened to google for a support group after my son left and found it. I think your idea of sending the link to all of the SRs in this group to pass out to their shipmates is a good one!
That is a great idea CB and since there are several of us "veteran" moms in this group there are probably only 48 or so members who have a recruit their now. Please everyone send a letter to your recruit and ask them to share this info with all their friends and have them come to this page and meet all the other members. I am sure so many of them would be very grateful.
Gosh, I wish there was a way to get all the other SRs family members on here. So many of them have no idea about this helpful site, and are going to PIR completely in the dark.
There are only 55 of us on here, so that leaves about 649 SRs whose families probably don't even know this site exists. We should tell our recruits to tell the other SRs so they can tell their families.
The BEST way I can think of is to send this web-address to ALL of our SRs, and have them share it with as many recruits as possible:
Can you imagine a post card from a girlfriend or wife being read out loud? Oh honey, I miss you so much, I can't wait to see you and be in your arms again....... That poor poor recruit. I can just hear them Oh Honey... lol NOTE: avoid post cards lol.
Yay Addy, I know that is like someone lifting a weight off of you :-)
Addy---I am so happy you finally got your letter! I know you must be on top of the world right now! Now we need our phone calls! Woohoo!
finally got my letter. i feel so much better!!
addy
When I talked to my son the other day, i asked him about the mail. I asked if he had to do extra work for letters, pictures, etc and he said "nope" , only if its a post card then they have to read them out loud. Maybe each division is different?
