Thanks for the advice everyone. I am sure he is fine and am glad to hear they would call if he was going to be set back. Hope he starts getting our letters soon :)
I am sure the dentist has to check and recheck them after that procedure. I am also sure they will take good care of him and put him on antibiotics for any infection. And if it is anything serious that could delay PIR in any way they will call you. The good thing is that several days have passed and i bet he is feeling better already and probably has received more letters by now as well. Hang in there and I hope you get a better letter soon.
Wyobraskamom(Ship2Div925) I'm not a vertran Mom, but will you take a bit of advise from a Chief's wife....... I went thought the wait while hubby was in boot and we were married with our daughter at the time.
Yes they would definately contact you if there was a problem if something was wrong (bad) but only if he has you listed as his point of contact. I was my husbands and I know my daughter has her dad as her point of contact in case of emergency.
You would get a visit from the Navy or a phone call from a corpsman or chaplin if there was a problem. So yes the saying no news is Good new is the best to live by.
The motto I have lived by for the last 20 years as a Navy Wife and Now as a Navy Mom is this: "Hope for the best and Expect the worse" this sounds horrible but in the end if you expect the worse and it's not too bad then it's do able and can be lived with and in the end you can get your family though the tough times.
Chin Up! We are all in the same boat and have the same fears. You are not alone.
My son's girlfriend got a letter today and my son said that he had is wisdom teeth taken out and that he was in a lot of pain because they got infected. Veteran moms: Would someone call me if it was really bad? I know I keep hearing no news is good news but I have to admit that I am freaking out a bit. Also, as of Sunday he said he had not received any mail. Has anyone else heard if Ship 2/925 has started getting letters? Thanks for the help everyone.
diannep: Thanks for the info! He packed a bag before he left for me to bring when I fly up - just wanted to make sure he can take the bag with him!!
I am betty it won't be empty long, i will just have to water them now without bringing them down from the hook ;-) The craftsmanship of the nest amazes me. It has a mud base all the way around that looks as good anything I have seen a potter do. When I first saw it I thought one of the teens must have put it there but it is woven into the plants. Hopefully I will have egg pictures then baby pictures as well :-)
Got a 15 minute phone call from my son Peter tonight . He has not changed one bit. He did not have homesickness like I thought either. He was happy and his funny personality has not changed at all. He told me he has made alot of friends there and training has gone great . Her has a cold of course . He got his wisdom teeth out but that went pretty good he said . He really loves it! I will get one more call before he graduates . I am so happy that he adjusted makes my mind at ease so much
dttbrammer-Congrats on receiving letters! Praying there is one in my box when I get home! It is fun to hear all of the different views and comments from SR's in the same ship/div. That is so sad that some have not received any. Hopefull yht email is just slow and their mail is on the way still. Sent a letter today asking my SR to be on the look out for SR's that aren't receiving any and to send me their names so I can send them some cards/letters/stamps.
Have a good night everyone!
IslandMom: You can bring a few "civies" to PIR. They can't wear them until they "phase up" but can lock them up until then. You can ship the rest to him when he has phased up.
They start out with about 88 SRs per division, but lose alot for various reasons, and then gain some from the previous PIR groups (who had been asmoed (setback) and now are training again). They usually graduate with an average 75 SRs per division, give or take some.
