Congrats to all you got your sailor calls today! My son called and sounded so excited and proud. I had to step out of a meeting that I was running to talk to him so I actually had to hang up before he did. Hated that! I also forgot to tell him Happy Birthday! Tomorrow is his birthday! Can't wait to see him though. Couldn't be prouder of my sailor!!
Congrats to all the new Sailors!
I'm going to get on my high horse for a wee bit. The ceremony you will be attending is an official military ceremony. The Sailors will be in their finest dress, the speaker will be in his/her finest dress, and those in the audience should be dressed likewise. At my son's PIR I overheard a young Sailor ask his mom why she wore blue jeans and a t shirt while he was wearing the finest thing the Navy had to offer. Just saying'
Hi there - can somebody please give me the info (I know it has been posted before, but can't locate it) about how we can go be at the airport with him waiting for him to leave. My son leaves Saaturday morning after PIR, and we would like to see him off to the next part of his journey since we will still be in IL. Thanks!
Just got off the phone with my SAILOR! Oh my gosh, he sounded great!
He said he was really tired.
They woke up at 6:00 a.m. on Monday and started BattleStations around 9:00 p.m, and got done around 4:15. He said everyone that could participate did pass.
He got 2 strikes on the firefighting part. He forgot to strap his helmet strap and didn't turn on the air..oops! He said "it appears when you are so tired, air is just not a necessity". LOL.
He flys out of IL to SC on Saturday at 7:00 a.m. so we won't get as much time as we wanted with him, but I prayed for the best (him leaving Sunday), but prepared for the worse (him leaving Saturday early) so all is good!
At this point just being able to see him for anytime at all will be a blessing! He said their group is very close and that they actually had some fun and messed around a bit, which by the way, it the reason nobody got phone calls.
Thanks everyone for your support! I cannot tell you how much it has helped me! Big hugs to all of you!
PIR here we come!
Congrats to 925! Now...hoping that 137/138 call soon! HOOYAH!
For PIR dress, we recommend "dressy casual." Remember...your sailors will be in their finest. Nice jeans are fine...well, actually, there will be a little bit of everything there. But it is important to be dressed comfortably....some walking involved that day and bleacher seating. You will see everything from "club style" dress to "beach style" dress.
Dang! I guess a watched iphone doesn't ring any better than a watched pot boils! Ring already!
You know it's bad when you hold your phone up and start talking to it "ring, ring-please ring!" LOL....
Yay 925 and dcmont! - did your SAILOR sound real tired?
Talking to my SAILOR right now!!
Div 925 passed!
