@juliebelle---love the picture! I would love to be there! Don't get that in Florida!
@Crazy Blonde---that's a hoot! If I had a mailbox I would definitely purchase one of those! Hoping for a letter this week!
OMG!!! Just had the absolute BEST gift I could get today!!! I stopped by the Recruiting office to update his recruiter on things in the mail from my SR and ask a few questions. My son's best friend was there assisting at the Recruit office this week! He went through boot camp less than a year ago. He was able to reassure me about all the things I had questions about, and I picked his brain for 2 hours about boot camp. I'm taking him to supper tomorrow, I feel so much better!
Vivian, LOL! You have a wonderful day too! Mine' is so much better after seeing Matt.
CrazyBlonde!!! You are too funny!!! Love your story! Love the Pictures!
Juliebelle, I'm looking up at the mountains from Rancho and it looks beautiful from here.
Wishing you both a lovely day and praying for letters, postcards, boxes or calls to all the proud mothers out there.
We're down to 39 days!!!!!!
I moved to my current home about a year ago. (Last April.) Since that day I never really had anything very important sent to me that would cause me to even notice what time the mail came. Fast Forward to NOW...
Week 1: Watched out the window like a hawk, first few days ,but somehow missed seeing the mailman. (Note: MOST of my mail goes to my P O Box, so IF the mailman stops, it's highly likely it's mail from my SR. Ran out and checked the box immediately whenever I had to take my eyes off it to do anything else. Considered HIRING a relief watchman so I could have a break occasionally.
Week 2: Now this is the first week that I was really expecting to see mail... such as the "BOX" and the "FORM LETTER." Having been unsuccessful in week 1 of actually seeing the mailman drive by, I DROVE around the neighborhoods near my home trying to FIND the mail truck. I FOUND several! LOL! None of which would ADMIT they deliver on my street! Why on earth do we have so many??? No wonder stamps are so pricey! I found a different mail truck for each side of the street, I even saw 2 on the same street at the same time! LOL! (While I was driving around... The BOX was delivered! YAY!!!! (Sometime between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm)
NOTE: Now, it's important to mention that there are OTHER members of the family AND a girlfriend that MIGHT also get mail, so I have made all the APPROPRIATE calls to them several times once DAILY asking them; "What time does your mail get delivered???" "ANYTHING yet?" "Call me THE SECOND you get ANYTHING!"
(Did you know it is the Sheriff that serves restraining orders to Cease and Desist?) Learn something new every day! LOL!
A couple days later, his girlfriend gets a letter (she lives in a 2nd home on the same property as me). I rush to her work and burst in with the letter, OMG! she can't open it fast enough! Awesome and informative letter! Then the FORM letter about PIR arrives, (also addressed to her, had to wait all day to see that one, she was gone all day). Then ANOTHER letter arrives ((again addressed to her,) TEARS! (I guess girlfriends are more important when you only have a couple minutes to write) Luckily I got to read them! Yay!
Week 3: Determined to get the letters ASAP upon delivery, I have FINALLY come up with a solution!!! This is AWESOME! It works great! But PLEASE wait out by the mailbox and EXPLAIN exactly what it is to your mail carrier so you don't cause a heart attack. They may think it's a bomb, and then you'll get a visit from the Sheriff...again! LOL! Or maybe even the feds! Better put a local bail bondsman's number in you wallet just in case! LOL!
Now when the mailman opens the box, this transmitter sends a signal to the receiver in my house and a CHIME ALERT dings!!! YAY! Instant notification!!!
My birthday is coming up real soon...sure hoping a letter comes addressed to MOM!
(These are "Driveway Alerts" and are sold at most home improvement stores. This was only $18.00 at Harbor Freight) Anyone STILL wondering how I got the nickname Crazy Blonde??? LOL!
Sadly....I'm so old that the "big wheel" was not around when I was a kid...I think stagecoaches were though :-) ...but my boys sure loved them! I was very glad they were plastic after seeing how hard they rode them and how many things they ran into! :-)
Funny you ask that, Craig. Just got a message last night from a lady on here looking for Air Force Mom support for a friend. I found a site called
www.nammas.org/group/airforcemoms
Didn't have time to search through it, but googled and found it. Worth checking out. Congrats to your daughter!
Unfortunately Craig, I think the Navy is the only branch that has a site like this. I know I have searched for others. My step-daughters best friend is joining the Air Force as well and I wanted to help her find out what she could before she signs up. We couldn't find one for them nor the Army or Marines. You may be able to find one on FaceBook. I would definitely ask her recruiter.
Julie I hope you don't catch your hubby's crud. My hubby is sick as well. And sounds so different on the phone I didn't recognize him when he called. The caller ID said it was him but I wasn't so sure. A few days ago a different call came from his number I have programmed into my cell phone. He never calls from the work number but I wasn't paying attention and just saw his picture on the screen. So I answered Hi Honey, how's your day going. His boss answered with a laugh "It's going great now that people are calling me Honey" lol He needed my help with a computer issue. I was so embarrassed lol.
Lala, diannep, FTLW, Betsy - Got a call from my daughter today. She's in her "P" days at boot camp (BMT). Do you guys know any forums like N4M that deals with the Air Force?
For all others, my daughter joined the Air Force instead of the Navy. I'm ok with it but boy is her life gonna be hell this Christmas. All males in my family are Navy (5 are active duty). It will make for a very interesting Christmas this year. Luckily she was raised around all my Navy friends so she has very thick skin.
To make her feel at home, I'll have us Navy guys wear this uniform just to make her feel safe, then we will attack the traitor! ~j/k
Juliebelle! I was just going to ask if you were getting snow!! I was pouring here. Sorry to hear about your birthday :( but it's a well know fact that you are suppose celebrate the entire month for your birthday :)
