For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

I did take the stairs a few times in fear of missing a call in an elevator but I will admit I have never been on a subway train or even in a taxi lol. And I have never flown. Maybe I have led a deprived life to some but it was full of country living with dirt bikes and rope swings over the river. Ah, the good ole days :-)

Comment by AaronsMom (Ship 04, Div 811) on March 25, 2012 at 11:07am: supernavymommy and EOD mom: I take my phone with me everywhere and hold it in my hand during church or movies when I have to put it silent. I don't expect a call, but I don't want to miss one either! Also, I read somewhere that they don't usually get to write until their second Sunday there (which is today for my SR) so even though I've been anxious for the mail every day, this week is going to be much worse since I really have high expectations for receiving a letter this week!

He said they did train harder...but as far as less calls home, I haven't heard that. Calls are very random and totally up to the RDCs in their division. They can earn calls, lose calls, etc. Just have phones handy at all times!

Comment by diannep on March 25, 2012 at 10:13am: Welcome, Jenny! Please feel free to start a "discussion group" for 137 up above. That way, the other ladies can find you. It's easy...just hit "Add a Discussion" and label it with your ship/division number. They'll find you!

That DIV is special forces??? That is what my son told me he went in under EOD. Are they harder on the recruits and not allowed to write/call as the other divisions? I got he box within just a few days and the i am here call at 510am but thats it. I can wait I was just wondering if I should stay out of elevators in fear of a missed call!
