Sure hope you enjoyed every minute of your visit with your sailors, Lala!
Phone calls can be so random. I received 3 from my son within the first 3 weeks he was there (he arrived Thanksgiving week 2009). One of those was on Thanksgiving Day...RDCs were nice enough to let their division make a very quick call that morning when at the NEX. Then he called 10 days later...another quick one, but good to talk to him. Then either a week after that or two, don't remember--he got to call a 3rd time. But he was "asmoed" (setback) for a week after that, and when he rejoined another PIR group, that new division did not allow many calls at all. I think he only got to call once in 3 weeks...until the I'm a Sailor call. So every division is different on the calls.
Phone calls are usually the end of the 4th week they are there. It can vary depending on how quickly their DIV formed once they were in it.
No Worries prayin'NavyMom, most of their training is done indoors :-)
Good morning everyone, I hope you all have a great weekend. It is storming here and my Sailors are heading home today. I hate it when they have to travel in bad weather. Prayers appreciated :-)
So the letters are starting to come in, does anyone one know when the phone calls might?
The Weather widget is actually interactive. Place your cursor on the top bar and slide along the line to go to a different time in the day. Or click to change the date on the far left. Click LIVE to go to the current time.
So change the date to until it is not gloomy anymore! LOL
Juliebelle - I have visions of that box self combusting from the fume build up! LOL
I hope it arrives soon so you don't have the phone/insurance issues.
Been watching that weather widget all day - my son loves the rain too;however, I am not too sure how fond he would be of doing push ups in mud puddles! Yikes.
Lisa, OMG! I couldn't do it. LOL!
Geez Julie, hard to deal with that long of a wait, That's so strange the box didn't arrive yet. It must be really tough for you. Hang in there and keep us posted. Hope it comes soon,
CB short for Crazy Blonde
Amanda, that's awesome!
I just got the first real letter from my SR!!!!
It is very strange though. Checked the mail yesterday, really hoping there would be a letter, but there was none. After getting back home from breakfast this morning, GF called to tell me she had finally gotten a letter and would call me back after she read it. Our mailman does not deliver here until after 2pm, so I was thinking I would have to wait until then to find out if I would get one today also. When I went outside to get the newspaper, I decided to check the mail box anyway. The only thing in the mailbox was the letter. Either the mail man came by really early today or the RTC fairy know I needed a letter for my sanity! Either way, I am thrilled! He says he is doing great, has already gotten use to the barracks and loving the new uniform. And that division is starting to work out.
Wishing for letters in everyone else's mailboxes today!!!
Lala: It is also usually cheaper to fly back on Monday rather than Sunday for those who can afford to stay over. Well, I guess by the time you add that extra night at the hotel, it may not be worth it! Unless you have a GL A School student...where you have weekend "daytime" liberty with him/her....then it would be worth it to stay over Sunday night and fly home on Monday since the sailor most likely will have Sunday liberty until early evening.
EOD Mom: Re: what happened to you, maybe all should google "area codes for Chicago area" ! :-)
