I am having a bad few days as well.  :(  Which two hotels are you torn between?  I am a procrastinator, and because I don't know the area at all, I am hesitant to commit..  Fingers crossed for mail this week..

I know that feeling. I was weepy yesterday. Realized the phone was off the hook for 458 minutes according to the handset. Hit *69 and the dog lived to see another day. He knocks it off the hook every single time we leave the house and I completely forgot to check when we got home. I hope we get mail this week!  Anyone book hotels yet? I am torn between 2 places

Hi, all. Just stopping in to introduce myself. I'm a mom of two sailors who have gone through BC in the past year. I'm spending more time right now with a couple groups who are closer to PIR, but will begin checking in here, too. Please feel free to connect and / or ask questions. Meanwhile, I know other volunteer veteran moms are taking good of you!! ENJOY the journey--this is an experience for both You and your Sailor, and something you'll never forget. ;-)

Good morning all.  Hope you have a great day!

Good Morning everyone, I have been visiting my Sailors in VA Beach this week and will be heading home today. I will miss them for sure but I am ready to see my hubby :-) I hope you all have a wonderful day and are writing lots of letters. Your recruits should have a little down time today and hopefully they have been there long enough to get to write letters today. I hope so anyway. If they do your should get them Wed, Thurs, or Fri, depending on how far away from Great Lakes you live. I am from NC and Thursday was always my letter day. Enjoy your day and I will back on here this evening or tomorrow morning. Lora

Also I finally got my first letters! Actually I got 3 envelopes and 3 letters in each one from each day. (to save on stamps im assuming) so 9 letters total...so awesome, I cried like a baby ;) Hope to see everyone enjoy there letters very soon!!

Thank you for the reply!! I booked the whole weekend to be on the safe side. 3 day weekend would be such a blessing =D

Comment by diannep on April 14, 2012 at 5:04pm

Being a holiday weekend, KL, it is POSSIBLE that they won't fly out on Sat.  Sometimes with these three day weekends, it is harder to get flights and they stay at GL longer...which means....you can see them!

So my advice for this group is to try and stay through the weekend if possible...just in case.  In FTLW's case, her son was supposed to fly out, but then Tues before PIR, he told her he had the weekend there because of the holiday--change in travel plans...so play it safe and make sure you stay through the weekend if you can.  It is possible that he will be flying to his A School on Sunday or Memorial Day.

And, yes, the bases observe the Federal holidays.  But since he would have just arrived, they probably will be involved in checking in, etc.  He will be in "Indoc" for a while, which is the introduction to the base...they do this for each base they arrive at.

Comment by KLSchisler on April 14, 2012 at 11:59am

Anyone know if they will get Monday off for Memorial day weekend? Will it matter if his A school is in Connecticut or not? Thanks!
