SUNY:  Sesalle is correct...they can purchase stamps at the NEX, but it is nice to send them some too!  Some send a self-addressed stamped envelope with each letter, but my son liked writing on the Navy stationery when he was there so didn't want me to do that.

For those who feel their SRs won't take the time to write much, look in the discussions above for the one about questionnaires you can print and send.  They enjoy these, they are quick to complete, and you might have better luck hearing from your SRs!  Remember, they can't write for the first two weeks of bootcamp and also don't receive mail for the first time until the 2nd Sunday they are up there usually (training the Recruit Mail Petty Officer first).  Then they start receiving mail daily (during week) but usually can only write once a week in the beginning...later, they can write more often.

Theresa's Mom, I did get his form letter, but I am doubtful of him writing me very often....so in my letter to him I included a S.A.S.E. and some paper!! :-)

It is comforting to know other moms are going through the same experiences I am. Just received my son's letter today with his address and Div., and immediately sent off the letter I had been waiting to mail!

Thank you diannep!  Thank you too to Kellyc for creating this group!

Sesalle, it's good to know that they're both in the same Div, perhaps we can share news (though I have not received any letter yet, not even the form letter) maybe towards the end of this week?  (wishful thinking)  Does anyone know if there's a store where an SR can get stamps in RTC?  That may be why I'm not getting any letter - oh well, I'll just send her a book when I write to her tomorrow  and some band aids!
