twopercentsmom: I agree with Ellen. His PIR date won't change, just his division if he ends up in SPEC OPS. Not all PIR groups have 800 divisions, but this one does. Hoping it works out for him!
On Southwest Airlines...they fly into Chicago-Midway (furthest airport) and Milwaukee. Check both locations. Milwaukee has very little traffic, a straight shot into GL...about 45 minute drive on the interstate. Remember, Southwest not only charges no change fee, but your first 2 bags are checked for free. Wish I had booked Southwest for my son's PIR...because he ended up being asmoed (setback) a week so I had to pay a change fee... :-(
Happy Memorial Day to all as we remember our military, both past and present. We love them and appreciate all that they do for each of us in this wonderful country! HOOYAH!
I have never heard of someone being moved out of one division and into another division for that reason. When my Sailor wakes up I will ask her if she heard of it while in bootcamp. I would think he would stay in the same division he is in but anything is possible. Be sure and let us know what does happen so we will have this info in the future :-)
I am not sure, but I would assume boot camp is the same in general for all, they would change divisions though, and since there is an 800 div they may just get moved over and not change their PIR.
It would be above average or high scores in their PFA assessment, swimming, running etc that made them "eligible" and probably stand out since they were pulled and tested (they may not have been aware of it at the time of enlistment) I would assume.
Their special training would probably come after BC just like the rest.
Mind you this is all a guess on my part and I will see if I can find out for you. Possibly one of the other veteran moms knows, but I have not heard of it.
Question for the veteran moms out there....my SR and another SR interested in Special Ops were pulled out and tested. I'm going to assume they did well or I should say passed. I haven't gotten my phone call yet, just a letter letting me know he's getting more physical testing....but I know his abilities and I'm wondering this....if they let him go into the SWCC program, is it possible that they may change the boot camp for him, in other words would they do that ? Would they pull him out of his regular division and send him over to the special ops division and then consequently that could change his PIR? Have you ever heard of this happening? Thank you.
hey, how soon is everyone going to book their flight? i'm afraid that if I book it now his date might change...what does everyone think? is it worth it if I find a good deal early?
Just wanted to share this again.........

Yep, correct, juliebelle. No messages are left when they are "need info" calls. My son also had an "info" call that I missed when he was there, and I freaked when there was no message. Of course, you can't call them back (remember that, ladies, even though you have the number in your caller id---they get in BIG TROUBLE if you call back!). I actually googled the number when I got home (cell call) and found that it was the medical area at RTC. REALLY stressed then! But luckily, he called a few days later on a personal call and said it was just a question about his medical record, but they "resolved it" without me. Wheeeew!
JessicaB my SR is in 815. I wondered if it was an information type thing... needing something or giving me a change of address
no. no msg. I was driving and talking to my husband. The sun was so bright My phone beeped and I couldn't see the number (and drive !) so I didn't worry about who it was thinking that my SR's call would still be a long way out. My SR also tried to call my husband (and we were on the phone together). NO msg. I haven't heard of anyone else getting a call.
I am still sick that I missed my call on Tuesday. Do you have a schedule of their day at BC? I was wondering what they do on Sunday. thanks
