Done!  Whew, I was glad to meet so many of you at Sarge's meet and greet!  Yeaa for our Sailors.

It was a short day for Liberty on Friday we stayed close, went to the mall had a few nice meals and hung out at the motel, he had a nice LONG, HOT shower and shaved again etc.  Glad we didn't do Chicago, it poured! But we had a really long day at O'hare on Sat for a 3:45 pm flight! He got there at4 am, we got there at 7.  He took his undies, phone and i-Pod and was thrilled.  He chose to leave the lap top behind and I will send out tomorrow. But I love the constent texting again!

He is now in SC and we have his A school address to send the rest off tomorrow.

We've driven about 3000 miles over the last 6 days to see celebrate PIR and are home safe, I can say it was so worth the experience, AND the US grows A LOT of corn in the mid-states!  (I saw it for thousands of miles!)

Funny thing though is I've driven all the way from UT to Chicago and did not see the lake (despite our room being less than a mile away) or Chicago!  Oh, well there is always school graduations, we have A, B and C school to get through.

If Sarge reads these I would like to say a big Thanks!!!  The food, meet and great and very valuable info made this a really great expierence for me, my husband and our new Sailor!

My son graduates July 20, and I was wondering what are the chances he will fly Ohara to MS for A school, because that's where we are flying out of that Saturday, anyone let me know please, if you have any idea. Thanks

Did any leave to Meridian MS for A school, if so did they fly out of Ohare.

Back home again!  What a whirlwind of activity.  We got going about 6 am Friday to be able to park in the Metra Parking -- it was $3 for all day.  We decided to go up into the balcony and sat next to a N4M from the same division we met at Sarge's the night before.  PIR was everything and more.  The drums beating beating beating and then the door opening and the recruits marching in!  Wow-- we ended up sitting diagonally from Div 215 so we could see faces and what a joy to find our SR.  It wasn't cold up where we were sitting once the seats were full -- but it was at first.  We were glad that we brought something to sit on because we had to wait quite a while for 9.  Afterwards we had lots of hugs and pictures and our now sailor left to get pictures.  We waited by the hall for him and we took off when he returned.  He just wanted to rest and hang out so we went back to the hotel and then after about an hour went to lunch.  After lunch we were caught in an amazing downpour!  Back at the hotel we did more hanging out and talking.  By the time he had to get back (and we went early to avoid any delay) the rain was gone.  He was told by the civilian passing out his airline tickets that the Chicago police was going to accompany them through security at the airport and not to have anyone meet him.  We were disappointed, but told him to call (using his phone card) once he was there if it looked like we could meet him since his flight didn't leave Midway until 7 pm (they left the base at 1 am).  He called at 5 and said there was no problem and he could even leave the airport, but had to stay within 10 miles.  So we headed over there & picked him up and enjoyed a whole day -- we went to eat, to a movie, the mall, and just hung out. Someone also told him he couldn't take his phone & computer to Pensacola, but then learned that he could so we were glad to give him those.  He was glad to get the boxers as well.  He's an amazing person and the Navy has brought out so much confidence and eagerness to serve.

I wish I could have met up with more N4M at Great Lakes, but the order of the day was to focus on our sailors.  Thanks to all the veteran moms that helped us through --- you have all been absolutely wonderful.

thomandker... how wonderful that you got to encourage your daughter this Friday. I'm sure that's just what she needed... nobody is cheering her on more than you. Please keep us updated, as I have a strong feeling she will march in PIR on Friday!

We had an amazing Friday/Sat.  PIR was incredible.  So, so wonderful to hug my boy!  What a man he is now.  We got a fabulous bonus day on Sat, when he was given freedom to leave the airport, as long as it was by train.  We all took the train into Chicago...and got to bring along another Sailor who needed a family for the day! What a great time... and Chicago knows how to treat their military visitors! We hardly had to pay for anything for any of us all day long.  Such a blessing!

Many wonderful memories!

Blessings to you all!

MOMofDREW:  Remember, weekends don't count in the day count.  So if they were 6-4 on Friday, they will be 6-5 on Monday.

Hope all had great days today with their sailors, whether in GL or at the airports!

Chris's Mom, thanks from all of us over on PIR 7/20 for taking time to post.  Makes us feel closer to our guys.  Enjoy your short time with your SAILOR.  Where is his A school?

PIR was wonderful! Seeing my son so happy and so proud was one of the proudest days of my life! What an amazing experience. A little thunder , lightning and pouring rain couldn't dampen our spirits. Soaking wet. I guess in all my excitement and anticipation I should have checked the weather before packing??? Lol

Momof drew. I saw your sons Div Marching today. What a great site it was to see the pride and stride they had. You will be truly amazed when you see your new Sailor. Good luck.
