Mornin' Folks!
Tori: Yes, I would go ahead and book your room. You can cancel/change with no penalty up until either the day before arrival or arrival day. Springhill Suites Waukegan, Courtyard Waukegan, and Residence Inn Waukegan are all good ones. They are close to Sarge's MeetNGreet which will be held the night before PIR. They are only about 4-5 miles from RTC and they offer the PIR shuttle service to/from RTC. There is a theme park in the area so these hotels fill up. I wouldn't wait!
channa: So good that so many are writing to your SR! That is the most important thing you can be doing for your SR...other than prayers! :-)
Yep, I agree with the recruiter. Amazing how many really want to get married right away. Some who left for bootcamp with bfs/gfs want to get married PIR weekend! They can only do this with prior approval from RTC. We always try to get them to wait until A School and marry then. And, then there are those like you mentioned who look for love in A School and marry! Oh boy!
Tori, also....we go by division number on here. The ship actually contains many divisions, but your SR will only know SRs in their division/their brother division. Why not start a discussion for 218 up above in the forum? Just title it Ship 3 Div 218 and the ladies in that division will find it. Just click on "Add a Discussion" and get it started. Please, ladies, only one discussion per division!
Same advice for you, Sorelle: Start one for 816 up top!
Good morning, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
Once the PIR discussions are started, I will be helping out the 800 Divisions as a veteran mom. My son was in GL in 2010 and I would of never survived BC without N4Ms. I know it seems like forever, but before you know it you will be hugging your new sailor.
My Daughter left Ohio on 5/21 we just received word from her recruiter that she is in DIV 218, on Ship 3 looks like her PIR is 7/13 also, when should we start booking our room? any advise would be welcome! thanks! Also, anyone one else with a daughter on ship 3? Tori
diannep thank you for your response.I am writing mine everyday and have a couple of other girls too that I know about. I am sorry, I listed my daughters name, I did not know you should not list names. I will get this whole thing eventually. :) I am just so darn excited about this adventure for my daughter. Even as the days pass you still have to pinch me to make me wake up and believe it is real. So much advice has been given to me, my head swims at times! (No Pun Intended!) So this past weekend we had dinner with a former Navy recruiter, and he tells us that once she is out of Bootcamp and at A school make sure she does not get married! GET MARRIED?? He said it happens a lot...the young kids get out of Boot Camp and look for love at A School... Lord, I can handle on one thing a year! Just get me through Bootcamp with her this year! :) ...
To my daughter Loran, my son-in-law Nathan, my brother-in-law Dave, my uncle Lewis, my very good friend Chris, my niece Laura, my ex Gary, my late uncles, Lonnie and Lawrence, my late father-in-law Larcom, my late brother-in-law Ralph, all my other family members and friends, and all the many many Sailors, Soldiers and their families that I have come to know and those of you who served our country and played a part in defending our freedom. I appreciate you all so very much ♥ God Bless you, and God Bless America.
thank you for your response, diannep! :)
channa: Unfortunately, only the SRs can supply you all with names of shipmates not receiving mail. The address should be the same as your SRs since they would be in the same division. So it is best to ask the SRs for names of those not receiving mail. Hopefully they will know the shipmates' first names too...so you can address letters properly to them...the SRs call each other by last names.
Just remember that we can't post names on this page. You can post that you have some SRs' names and let others private message you for them on here. Very sad, but many in each PIR group do not get mail. They so appreciate it when N4Moms write to them!
Is there a way besides asking your SR who is not getting mail and send letters etc? I have read a couple of post on those not getting letters and it just breaks my heart...I am sending one a day to my SR, I have room to send others of encouragment. Is that appropriate?
