N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Smoke2012, There is a link to a page about Ships and Divisions here too. Just under the member icons on the right side of this page there is a column with the pages. All of those titles are clickable links.

Your SRs will not get picked on for receiving too many letters, and trust me it is almost impossible to receive "too many" letters while in BC. Your letters are the only contact your SRs have of the outside world.

Write to them about the weather, your grocery store shopping trip, their pets, cleaning their rooms, lack of laundry now etc. They want and need to hear from you!!!!

We will start separate division discussion for divisions and their brother divisions as soon as we have confirmation from the RTC as to exactly what divisions are in this TG.

Get to know each other as a group. You will all be attending PIR together, possibly the meet and greets, and your SRs are becoming buddies. Some of your SR will attend school together even if they are not in the same division in BC, some may end up stationed together, and who knows they may also become friends for life. :)

Smoke 2010,  Search  Ship/Division--How it works.  I had the same question the other day.  Lemonelephant sent the link labeled above.  Sorry, I tried to copy the link, but my tablet is not cooperating.

Ships are the building that you SRs are "housed in while in BC. Each Ship has a number assigned to it, for instance Ship 12 is the USS Triton.

All division are filled in numerical order and start over at the beginning of the Navy fiscal year. So regular divisions start with 001, SpecOps divisions 801 and "performance"  901.

This TG started in the 36th week of the Navys Fiscal year, so TG 36. Regular divisions in this group started with division 265 (the 265th division this Navy fiscal year).

If there is an 800 division in the TG it would follow numerically the last SpecOps divisions so it would be 815 (the fifteenth 800 division this year). Don't know if there is one in this group or not.

For the 900 divisions they generally are numbered according to the TG week so this 900 division would be 936. If there wasn't a 900 division in the last TG there would be two in this one and they would be 935 and 936. When the Navy has a week with no TG started the 900 division will skip that weeks division number.

Start sending your letters to your SR as soon as you received the form letter. Don't wait to get a personal letter from them. They will probably start receiving mail before they can send mail.

Comment by D❤Navy on May 31, 2013 at 8:17pm
They don't get picked on by you know who if they are receiving too many letters do they? My mom is worried about that - my mom has sent one- I have wrote 3- my husband has wrote 1 - and his brothers put a short note to him in 1 card????
Comment by MomLovesRyan Ship 09 Div 266 on May 31, 2013 at 8:13pm

When will Ship or Div groups start forming? My son is Ship 09 Div 266. Will there be separate groups for the ship (09) and separate groups for the division (266)? Or will there be a Ship 09 Div 266 group? Sorry, I sound so naive.....but, I am!!! :)
