~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank-you. I am very proud of ALL the recruits!
navyboyzrus: Will be interesting to see where he ended up division-wise!
See on on the 07/12 group, islandgirl!
Welcome to the new members!
339: PIR is over around 10:30 a.m. They then have to return to their ships for anywhere from 20-40 minutes. They then are "yours" unless they are moving over to GL for A School. In that case, you will have a short visit with your sailor before they are bussed over there. Takes several hours to move and then they will call you for pick up (make sure they have a phone card or they can borrow a phone from a student already over there). You will get daytime liberty with your GL A School sailor through the weekend. They have to return to base each night.
If your sailor is flying out for A School, he/she will be bussed sometime Fri night/Sat morning (wee hours) to wait at the airport for flights. They will have their flight info by PIR day. You can meet them at the airport, obtain an airlines gate pass with your sailor present at the counter, and wait until the plane departs, so you'll have some extra visiting time with your sailor! These sailors have Liberty on PIR day until 8 or 9 pm usually before they must be back at RTC.
Good afternoon everyone. Does anyone know how much time we will get to spend with our salors on graduation day?
Oh yeah, Hello. I am another one of those moms that joined this website and never left. FTLW, diannep and Lala were my "life lines" when my son was in BC.
My sons PIR was a year ago this past April, he stayed in GL for A School (ET), and is currently in San Diego for C School. He is looking forward to getting out to the fleet in July.
Keep asking those questions!!
Islandgirl, It can be difficult to guess the PIR date sometimes. Here is the link to the 07/12 PIR group.
PIR: Jul 12, 2013 TG 35 - 9 Divisions (257-264, and 935) 4 guests
Just got our letter It says PIR 7/12/13 I guess I am in the wrong group :(
Dianep: Yeah that is what his recruiter told him. He was mixed about volunteering for it. The recruit staff had try to get him to try for MU because he was 1st chair trumpet since his sophomore year and he made all state and all district band twice. Both which were huge honors. But he decided not too. He said when he gets out he needs to have experience in something he can get a job doing. So he went MAA. It was funny cause the week he was getting ready to leave to go to BC the USAF band sent him a letter trying to get him to come talk to them about playing in one of their bands. I doubt he will volunteer for the division. We have a really close friend that is a Sr. Chief in right now and he told our SR that there are 3 types of SR. 1.) ones who stand around and watch others do. 2.) ones who have no idea what to do and 3.) those that get it done and lead the way. He told our SR that he would bust his chops if he was a # 3 SR. And our son loves and worships this man. So there is no telling what he will do.
I seem to be kind of getting the hang of this (following other posts!)
Good Morning diannep.
