Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

How does one usually dress at PIR? Do you dress up for the occasion? Or, wear shirts/attire with your SR (now Sailor)'s name, picture, division, etc.? - Basically - spiritwear?

Krose018 - from a reliable source on hear, I was told that the first group of brother division (265-266) could come as early as next week (July 11th or 12th). Then they would be coming in in numerical order. Also, if someone is having to take a test over and over and they have until the night before PIR to pass it, that call may come much later - or maybe not at all, depending on time. Nothing is cut in stone.

Krose018 - my understanding is that the "I'm a sailor" call comes after battle stations. And that could be as early as next week or as late at 7/16
I'm not completely positive on that though.

I hope someone will actually answer this.....Does anyone know when the "I am a Sailor" phone call comes in? Like about the time frame? My fiance has been calling me and contacting me instead of his parents. They may not even go to his graduation.

Lala - You did exactly what I planned on doing on Wednesday! I thought maybe I could park some where and use binoculars to see him! LOL!! He has to be out marching somewhere!! My patience is wearing thin with all this waiting!

AjsMom, I got there early my daughter's PIR as well. I drove around that base probably 20 times looking for any Sailors at all lol. I was so sure I would see her, NOT!!! I got worried someone would come out with guns asking me what my business was and why I was scoping out the base lol. It was so hard being right there and knowing she was on the other side of that fence and I couldn't see her. Just don't go scaling that fence because I really wanted to lol.

Good morning everyone, still raining in the Sunshine State :( At least it's not a tropical storm. That's my bright side lol. Heading to the Aquarium :) I hope you all have a wonderful day.
