N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hey for those staying at Navy Lodge maybe we can all go out and listen to Taps together Thurs night if we aren't still at Sarge's meet and Greet.

Thank you for all the prayers and support.  I know he can do it.  Ill be crushed if there is no PIR and he goes straight to school.

Now as far as changing ships.  He didnt give me a ship # or Div #.  Is that a problem?  I know the ship name.  Do I need the ship # and div to send him letters? And he is moving on the 4th.  When should I start writing to the new address?

Comment by ellen0502 on July 1, 2013 at 5:18pm

Changing ships in BC is not unusual. Ship 11 has just gone through a maintenance and remodel, and from the looks of it the Sailors who are moving ships are headed to that one. I am assuming Ship 13 is going to get some repair, maintenance or remodeling.

It will not be individual SRs who will be moving (unless they have changed divisions or asmo'd) and it will be brother divisions making the move. It is nothing to worry about.

My prayers go out to your sailor AJsMom! There has been some struggle in my sons div also with PFA- I told my sailor to support his fellow SRs and keep telling them they will do it!!!!! It's all about teamwork and support of one another!!!! Don't worry he will get through this! Lots of good people there to make sure he does! SRs and RDCs!

Ajsmom:  Ok, first of all, he won't be separated for not making his run before his PIR.  Also, he should be able to try up until Wed (7/17).  If he passes by then, he will be at PIR!  I think they are telling him this to motivate him to try harder.  Even if he doesn't pass by the 17th, he will stay in the FIT DIVISION and try 3 times a week until he passes it.  As long as he keeps progressing, he gets to keep trying.  Once he does that, he does BattleStations and is sent straight to A School, no PIR (remember, this is only if he doesn't pass the run BEFORE his PIR date).  So prayers for wings on his feet!  :-)

Ajsmom (ship 13 div 269) - First of all, I want to tell you that I will be praying for your son to be able to pass that running test. I'm sure he will make it. As far as ship 13 goes, I've heard about many of them who have to move. We've speculated all kinds of reasons, but, really, no one knows. Regarding the ship coin. I have heard a few options. One, usually they have more of an attachment to their first ship. Two, you can get both ships' coins and let him decide which one he wants. They will refund the one you don't want to keep. Three, your son may want to keep both of them since both ships are going to play significant parts to his BC adventure. Those are some thoughts for you.
