N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Remember, MomLovesRyan:  The week count is based on training weeks, not bootcamp weeks.  Processing days can last from a few days to a couple of weeks.  I determine about what week they are on (training week) by counting back from PIR date (a little tricky but I have had lots of practice!).

MomLovesRyan Ship 09 Div 266 - remember when they got there they ended up having the 3day weekend for Memorial Day so that set them on different times. Because Saturdays are hold days and Sundays are some what holiday and then they had Monday as a holiday. So the first day of their weeks are going to be Thusrdays. Hope this helps. I tend to ask Sean each time I have talked to him so that I can make sure I know what day they are on.

MomLovesRyan, I had a similar goal... all I can say is I'm heading in the right direction, but that's about it:)

proudofmysons and diannep, thanks for the conversation regarding training weeks.  I was a little confused about that too.

AuntieMel - Yes, my goal was to lose 20 lbs. NOT doing too good!!!! (I'm a stress eater!)

diannep - Today it's 4 weeks since they got to GL. So, wouldn't they be starting 4.1 by now - or within the next day? But, then - 6.5 would fall around 7/9 and PIR is 7/19. So.....maybe they had more than 5 p-days???? Just trying to get a handle on this and figure out where they are right now.

proudofmysons - Did you get to talk to your son this passed Sunday - June 16? I waited all weekend for a call, but didn't hear from mine. I can't remember which division your son is in. Mine's in 266. I've been waiting to hear how his knee is. He had some problems with it last week and was going to a specialist the next day - so I've been worried.

Proudofmysons - when I talked to Sean last Wednesday he said it was week 2 day 5. So by calculations today would be week 3 day 4. There is a great section on what happens at rtc above, I follow it so that I know what is happening each day.

Thank you diannep for the clarification. That makes sense! I am glad he at least knows what is going on!!

Actually, proudofmysons, they probably are in "training" week 3.  That is different from the bootcamp week count.  Remember, there are processing days (number varies by SR) when they arrive and those are not counted in the training weeks.  They finish training on 6-5 (Training week 6, day 5) in most cases.  They then have some "down" days before PIR.  So although bootcamp is average 8 weeks long (give or take), they actually only train for 6 weeks.

When I talked to my son on Sunday, he said they were beginning training week 3. I think he was confused, he is not getting much sleep because his job requires him to do a lot of paperwork for the division. It must be training week 4 because the first week is processing?
