Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Each Ship (barracks) has many compartments. So females are housed within the same Ship but in separate compartments from the males.
There are integrated divisions in BC. Usually if one Division is integrated then its Brother division will be as well. Then what they do is house the females from the two Brother Divisions together; ditto for the males.

Proudofmysons - I had made my reservation online at Navy Lodge as well and all was fine - but I called the next day to confirm whether they had breakfast or not, and was told the reservation just needed to be in the graduates last name. I changed the reservation and they said that when we come to check in to give them the last name of your sailor. Hope that helps!

Good evening everyone!
Oohchile70s - my daughter is in the same ship and division as your son!! Weeee! LOL But I'm in Northern California so when we get there for PIR it'd be great if you told us what to see in Illinois! :o)
And I haven't received a letter from my SR yet either :o( I was doing so well too...having you here and understanding helped me not feel so overwhelmed. I'm still okay, just got a sad heart today missing my baby girl. I've written like 7 letters to her! LOL Hopefully tomorrow will bring a letter. Sigh. Fingers crossed!

when i called the navy lodge before making my reservation i told her we were coming in for graduation. i asked if there was anything i needed to know before making the reservation online and she said no. I think i will give the motel a call in the morning to make sure my reservations are okay in my name.

ProudMomtoSean Well, there is a Walmart about 4-5 miles from RTC up there...maybe you can take him shopping to pick it out after PIR?
