While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My husband just decided that he wanted to power wash our deck (the previous owners had painted it, :( ) so we were doing that all day. Then yesterday I had to take my mom to a doctor's visit, then lunch and shopping.

They do have a Navy graduation rate (sometimes the front desk personnel have no idea what PIR means! They refer to it as Navy graduation so ask for it that way). But they have limited rooms with this rate so it sells out. We used our AAA rate when we stayed there. When you called the 800 number, maybe you got a reservations agent at a general location that is not familiar with the Waukegan hotel? Hopefully you will get better info from the agent at this number Lala provided--which is the direct hotel number.

Ask them if you book the time you want to take the PIR shuttle (if you plan to take that) when you check in or if you can reserve it now. We had to wait until we checked in (and then I had to ask about it...the agent didn't ask me to give her the time, so don't forget!).

They can't guarantee more than that because of course, they don't know how many will attend. But...having been on this site for 2.5 yrs now, I can tell you that the extras in most all cases get in.

Also, remember that if any in your group are 12 yrs old or younger, they are not counted as part of the 4 guests. They automatically get in, so actually a group can be more than 4 if having children 12 and under.

We made reservations there but I called the 1800 number, and the girl on the line just acted like she didn't hear me when I mentioned a PIR discount. So I ended up making the reservation online for a better rate. Still expensive.
