Don't you just love those added days for writing letters? I was so surprised when I got two letters in one week. It was awesome :-)
AmOm, I am assuming your recruit is going to be an AO? My daughter is an AO so if you have any questions at all please let me know. Does your recruit know if he/she wants ship duty or shore duty?
I am here too. I read every message that comes through to my email but am not much of writer. I thank all of you for your posts, I have learned so much and feel way less stressed about PIR. :-)
...can't post SRs' last names in the discussion groups either, ladies. But private messages are fine!
brandie, sorry....we can't post SR's last names. Hoping that is a nickname that you posted? That would be ok. But to be safe, might be better to delete that post and send out a message to ladies in 258 from the discussion group (private messages to each) to see if maybe this is their SR? Hoping you connect with this person...just have to keep last names off of the page! Thanks! :-)
You can leave your car in the train station parking lot all day, not a problem. The train station is across the street from the base.
When taking the train into Chicago, I recommend buying the weekend pass. It is seven dollars and gives you unlimited rides all weekend. A one way trip is three dollars, so round trip would be six.If you go into Chicago more than once it will save you money
It worked out for us to get the weekend pass, we were not planning on going back into Chicago, then ended up going again on Sunday, we saved $25 by buying the pass.
Reminder ladies, do not post any last names here please!
Glad to see some of you ladies are "lurking" here. Just don't want anyone to miss info. And we need info from you all too! Like BattleStations info (private message)--which your SR will give to you. So hope you drop in often!
Yes, I agree with Lala, seamonkey. You shouldn't have a problem leaving the car in the train parking lot all day. But I agree with Lala, wouldn't leave it on base. If you happen to get back to GL with extra time, you will want to take your car and go get dinner w/your sailor without having to go through base security, etc to get the car.
I was actually wanting to leave the car rental on base but I'm guessing the train parking lot is close by? Sounds like a better idea. Thanks Lala!
I should also change my FB pic to match. I attended both visits when my SR got sworn in and took pictures both times. My name is Angela Ledesma. My SR has a different last name.
