Jill, I know how you fell about too much free time. I'm off during the summer and wished I had done some volunteer work or even gotten a part time job. I'm back to work next week and I can't wait. Aren't you amazed when you see all the new PIR groups forming and you realize that was just us and how far away it seemed? Soon it will be our turn!
Proudmom, have fun at Disney World. What a good way to keep busy and keep your mind off of things going on at Boot camp. I don't lead a very exciting life, so too much free time spent thinking... then sometimes worrying... Still trying to get a handle on that one. Only 3 more training weeks left for our kids... they are on the down swing now as far as time goes... can't wait for the 17th.
Hi All,
Was checking airline prices for my daughter to fly to her sisters PIR. If anyone is leaving out of LAX you might want to check Southwest prices today. You can get a round trip for less than $275. That is in and out of Milwaukee. Just wanted to give a heads up.
Hey! I'm still here... just been really busy, and we are on vacation... taking our 10 year old to Disney World. So ... here we come Orlando :-) Will be back in the loop soon. I get the emails... and try to sort through them.
lol Jill, I have that same problem. Too many screen names vs real names. It's just TOO much :-) If you are on the Navy Mom PIR friends I also have a pic with ribbons as my profile picture for facebook. My first name is Lora.
I am still here, I read what everyone posts! I still can't figure out who some of you are on Facebook though :-) I think I have a few figured out.
This is part of a comment I made on one of my group pages and I was asked to share this with my all my PIR groups so I am pasting it here for you as well.
I know this site can be a bit hard to get used to. But once you spend a little time here it is not bad at all. And for all those who do use Facebook, including myself, we all know that it is not always so easy. It seems that just when you think you haveFacebook all figured out they re-do the format and change it all again and it is like starting over. We all complain and freak out and beg them to put it back the way it was but we stay there and learn it all over again. At least with this site they don't make such drastic changes. Just spend some time here and ask questions. We will help you learn to navigate this site. It really is easy :)
You can ask anyone who knows me. I am here and I am on facebook to help other people the same way that others on this site helped me. I go above and beyond what most people would do to help a stranger and I truly believe there are several others on this site and facebook who do that as well. We like helping people, it is in our nature and that is what we do. I have driven 3 hours to help a fellow Navy Mom who needed me. I have held get together's in towns I visit to bring Navy Moms in those area's together. I have done that in FL, VA Beach/Norfolk area and in Wilmington NC area. I provided snacks and drinks and we all just talked for hours about our Sailors and recruits. I really enjoy meeting other Navy Moms/Wives, Grandmas etc. I recently had another Navy mom offer to drive 3 hours to help my Sailor who is very sick right now. Really? Who does that? I can tell you who does that. A Navy Mom does that!!! I don't know many people in this world who would drive 3 hours to take some soup to someone they had never met and it just be purely out of the goodness of their heart. I truly feel very much appreciated on this site and on facebook because I am told how appreciated I am. I think it is important to let others know how much we appreciate them. We all have a need to feel loved and appreciated and I am sure that is why I continue to spend several hours a day reading posts and comments and answering questions to help those who need it. We are one great big Navy family and I am blessed to have all of you as my friends.
So, please spread the word about this site, tell others how much you appreciate what they do and as Ellen Degeneres says "Be kind to one another" <3 We are family now :-)
I am happy to see we have at least a couple of you still here. seamonkey, I assume you mean leave it in the train parking lot all day. I am not 100% sure but I would guess people do that all the time since they have to have a way to get to and from the train stop. If you meant leave it parked on base, I would not do that.
