Got my call yesterday that I am a sailor mom. He was so tired that he told me he could march while he slept. He does not remember getting back from Battle Stations to his ship. I asked if all had passed in 253. Some still need to pass their final PFA, they will get their chance tonight if they do and still graduate with everyone.
Expecting calls from 940 this afternoon! Phones handy!
Kris: I know the feeling of them sounding more exhausted than happy. My son sounded tired too when he made his I'm a Sailor call back in 2010. But I still remember it! I had to ask him if he was a sailor....I know he was very happy but by the time they call, they have been up since about 6 a.m. the morning before....there is no falling asleep during BattleStations....automatic failure if they do. Then....they can't go to sleep until the night on the date they finish, but they get to go to bed at 8 pm rather than 10 pm. No problem there! I'm sure they fall into their racks!
Thanks everyone for the info . . My son, my Sailor, (Ship 03, Div 256) called this afternoon, 1413 PDT. He sounded more exhausted than happy, but did admit to feeling very accomplished and proud. I cannot believe they are finally so close to graduating! Looking forward to seeing a lot of you in person on Friday. Congratulations to all of you who now are parents of United States Sailors! It feels good, doesn't it? I am sorry that I did not ask if all of them in the division made it through, and I so wish I had known to ask that. I hope so much that each and every recruit did very well last night. My best to all of your kids, and to all of you.
Congrats to the new sailors of 253-256 today!
