It is great to see some of you are receiving letters. Congrats seamonkey :-) and anyone else who got a letters. There should be lots more of them this week.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. Today is my step-daughters 18th birthday. So I have been cooking and cleaning all day. We have lots of family and several of her friends coming over. We are having fresh Red Snapper caught while on vacation a couple weeks ago :-) Also grilled asparagus, homemade fruit salad, potato salad & baked beans, cheddar bay biscuits and of course birthday cake. Anyone hungry now? lol come on over :-)
For anyone new to this group be sure and check out this group page on facebook. Just make sure to stay on this page daily as well. This site needs you and so do the people on here who don't "do" facebook. There are lots of members here and the group is growing everyday. I am sure you will find some others from your division on this page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
EMTMac: Your SR is the one who has to set up access to the LES.
NavyGirlzMom: There is no pay increase during bootcamp....unless a sailor is promoted from E-1 to E-2, or E-2 to E-3. They are all paid as E-1's during bootcamp but get retro pay once it's over for the higher levels.
The positions they have in bootcamp are only for bootcamp--it's all over after bootcamp is over. Whether they get promotions during bootcamp that then allow them to hold certain recruit positions...I'm not sure about that.
All your SRs should have gotten paid today. I'm thinking there was a little extra in his paycheck because they got there in the middle of a pay period & didn't get paid on the first. Anyone know how to access their LES (Leave & Earnings Statement) so I know for sure?
Camies=digitals=work uniform
NWUs=Navy Working Uniforms (the blue camies--they love them)
Yay!!!!! I'm on top off the world. My son and I each received our 1st letter. He sounds good. Said he was there a whole week before BC started. He said his division is not the best on following orders. Marching is the most enjoyable thing so far. Said he got my letters and that he's a wimp now ( my son never cry's) Mentioned that him and his bunkmate have a good system down when making beds, stripping it down. No names mentioned. Said swim test was easy. Got blue camies, shots, NWU's?(not sure what that is). Lots more. Said pay dates are the 1st n 15th. (nice direct deposit in his checking account today. left me in charge of his bills) Lot of photo copies of docs. Cheers to our SR's and hope you all have an awesome weekend.
Thanks Diannep :-)
gingermom, you can send me a message on this site, and email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com or visit my website for more information about the PIR ribbons that I make :-) Let me know if you have any questions at all. http://www.uniquememorymakers.com/
EMTMac: We had heard that some were changing ships (barracks)---same division number. Unless he gave you a new address to write to, continue to write to the old one. He will get the letters!
gingermom: Welcome! So glad you found us!
The ribbons are ones that our wonderful Lala make for you all. She is a N4Moms veteran, like I am. She puts love in each one of them--you wear them to the MeetandGreet and PIR! If you are interested, just click on her page. Go to the "Members" profile pik section to the right and up top here. Hers is the red pik with the ribbons in it. Just click on it. It will take you to her page where there is lots of info!
To add to MySailor'sAnchor's post....scan piks on the back of your letters too, or on a separate sheet, rather than sending actual photos. Easier for them to store (limited space) and also...doesn't make fat envelopes!
