If your kids/lovers left on the 20th, it's day 11!!! If the 19th, it's day 12!!!!!!!!! We've hit double digits!!! There are MORE hours in 2 days than there are days until PIR!
seamonkey, most of us here have done the same thing and know very well what you are going through. We are here for you if you need us. I think I cried every single day my daughter was there. But it does get better as time goes by. The days drag by but the weeks pass quickly :-)
"...2 yrs older, not old..." Sorry about that!
Welcome, seamonkey! Glad you found the group! Hoping that RTC will be posting the divisions in this group this week.
I'm also a single mom of two sons so know how you feel. My younger son is my sailor, but his brother, 2 yrs old, decided to move to an apt just 2 weeks before my sailor left for bootcamp back in 2009! UGH! My parents went with me to drop my son off at the hotel the night before he left....he didn't want us to come in to meet his recruiter (joined in a different city), wanted to get the goodbyes over with (didn't want us at MEPS either for swearing in the next day). After dropping my parents back off at their house, I cried all the way home and most of the night! I was an emotional wreck for a while. Finally adjusted to it.
Once they are in A School, and communication is back, it is 10 times better! So just hang in there!
YAY! Looks like I found the right PIR Group thanks to Vicsmom. I haven't received the officially form letter but my son's recruiter gave me his ship/div. Haven't heard from my son since he left on the 20th. I'm a single mother of two boy's and I'm finding this very difficult than what I thought it would be. I've been very strong for my 22 and 17 year son's but I have to say, little do they know, I have cried so much this past week more than any other life changing event.
I FOUND a letter from my SR today. I cried like a baby, especially when the end said "I know you're crying so stop it. :)" I hope he found time to write to me today.
Happy Sunday, ladies! I'm back online now. We did lose our internet from the horrendous storm on Friday night. We were very lucky though because we did still keep our power and by God's grace, not one tree on our tree lined yard fell. I have a lot of relatives that still have no power and our temps here in Maryland have been in the high 90's. Yikes! My daughter and grandchildren spent the weekend at our house, since they had a flooded basement and no power. This storm was a "derecho" which is a devastating storm with straight line hurricane force winds. We had winds that were 90 mph. I'm so glad to be back online.
EMTMac, It can take a couple of weeks for the form letter to get to you. Mine took exactly two weeks to get as my son ended up in p-hold, his division was the last to be formed for that PIR, which explained the wait for me.
Hang in there and keep writing those letters, your son will have a happy face the first mail call he gets mail.
