So basically I, as a his girlfriend, could stay at the Navy Lodge? All I would have to do is give them Josh's info?

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on June 30, 2012 at 4:30pm

Here is some additional info on the Navy Lodge:

I stay military when I can...hubby has been AF Reserves for 27 years, son is the Sailor...so I have dependant ID. You don't need it for this Navy Lodge. You tell them it is for PIR and they may ask for your Recruits Name and Rate (Navy enlisted have "rate" not rank...it coincides with their pay grade E-1 to E-9 for enlisted. E-3 is the highest rate they can "rank up" too in BC). They may also ask you to bring them by to verify...but I always forget if that is enforced.

It is clean, I did not get a kitchenette as those are first come first serve. We had to queens and a rollaway.TV with DVD player, microwave, small fridge etc. Had nice furniture and a lobby with a fireplace. Hot coffee 24/7. Vending machines (variety...even one with alcohol! You have to get tokens at the desk for this.) Coin laundry, You can buy Computer time (these look exactly like the ones I saw in Recruit phone Computer room at the NEX) and pay for printer usage. Computers are in front of the elevators on each floor. WiFi has a charge. They do not have a Shuttle Service...but you can ask to arrange for a taxi...again here is where Sarge can come in handy!(SARGE AT 847-212-0246)

Lobby has DVD's for rent, post cards and a Curio with some Navy items for sale. They will give you a temporary pass to use at the small NEX down the road...there is also a gas station (don't need a pass for that).

It runs about $65.00 a night...no tax.

Here is a pic of the pass (courtesy of Craig):

They do a brown bag breakfast daily...was great for PIR. Bagel, cream cheese, chewy granola bar and large OJ...all in this bag:

Was great for PIR! I don't have pictures of the outside...only our messy hotel room!

The NL is about 1.5 miles from RTC. It is not on base but it is in some of the base housing area.

Here is a Mapquest from the Navy Lodge to Ohio Street, Gate 8 of RTC:

WELCOME to the new members of this group!  Have a question?  Read through the discussion groups above in the Forum and if it wasn't answered, please just ask!  There are several of us N4Moms veterans on here who will be happy to help!

Clarks1fan:  On the hotels, good idea to book now.  They fill more quickly in the summer with a theme park nearby.

Navy Lodge is always a good choice.  Close by.  No PIR shuttle, but you can drive.  You also get a pass to shop in one of the smaller Navy Exchanges there without your sailor (normally sailors have to be with you).  Both Lala and FTLW stayed there.  Some of them have kitchenettes so ask for that if you would want one.  I believe the price is around $65/night.

We stayed at Residence Inn.  Liked it alot.  Took the shuttle.  They have studios and 2 bdrm 2 bth for those with larger groups.  Rate includes hot buffet breakfast, pool, pet friendly for those wanting to bring their pets to reunite with the sailors, nice location.  Close to Sarge's MeetNGreet.  So are Springhill Suites and Courtyard, both nice hotels and all with PIR shuttle.

For the rest of you Here is how to add a Discussion:

Go to the bottom left corner of the Discussion Forum area (It's actually just above the comment box here.) and click "Add a Discussion".

Fill in the Title and any description you like.

For DIV discussion Titles a suggestion would be:

SHIP ##/ DIV ### (If you are doing it with Brother Divisions then add both)

Simple as that! Then the other members from your div can reply and you can connect up even closer there.

Please, only one discussion per Division(or brother Divisions), Thanks!

Remember that you are ALL part of this TG though and to stay on the main pages to talk here too! Plus, we veteran moms mostly stay on the main pages of the groups. There are 7-8 PIR groups running at one time and so we do not get to the DF's as much. We do check them as often as we can...OPSEC rules apply there also.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on June 30, 2012 at 2:13pm

I have a suggestion if you like...you don't have to do it but it might help since it is a large TG so far...

You might want to have your Division Discussions up above be Brother Division Discussions. Since they are on the same DOT (Day of Training ) as each other they are on the same schedule. SOmetimes their can be a Division on a PIR group that doesn't get very many members and so they can "See" what is going on based on their Brother Division. I know that on my PIR group...there never was a Division Discussion for our Brother Division and as far as Ic an rememebr there were only two members that regularly posted...they did so on the main wall mostly.

There will be many folks that join this PIR group ...and never post...but they do read! Some are new to computers and this whole forum thing (I was but got over it quickand  I just HAD to start posting...but then I am also such a "did I say too much" that I would post and then delete my posts! LOL)

So just a suggestion....

If the ones that exist already want to do so you may add the Brother Division to your title:

252...yours is 251

250...yours is 249

253...yours is 254.

Just ,whoever started the Discussion, go back to it and:

Click the "Options" tab in the top right corner of the Discussion.

From the drop down list click "Edit Discussion".

Add the Division to your title and click "Save" a the bottom right.

Yes, FTLW, I have looked at that date multiple times.  From what i was seeing on here as to the groups already with a PIR of 8/17, I was thinking he was going to get a 8/24 date.  It definitely says 8/17.  Booking hotel today sincel this appears to be a huge training group.
