My son arrived at GL on Tues.  6-19-12  got his box on Friday 6-22-12  and got the form letter today  Wed. 6-27-12. Ship 11 Div 252  PIR 8-17-12.  I was having a bad day today and was so happy when I got my mail and had the form letter.

Wait for the official Form letter for the correct information.

I am so confused!!!! I am getting mix information.  I guess I will have to wait for the form letter to arrive...

My daughter arrived to GL on June 18, 2012.  No official letter yet.  However, I was informed that bootcamp is 8 wks and that the 1st wk they are there does not count because they are still being processed.  So its a total of 9 wks.  Nine weeks leads us to a PIR date of 8/24/2012.  I may be completely wrong here, but did anyone receive the official form letter that provides the actual PIR date?      Thanks  for sharing.

I think I'm in the same place as everyone else, no letter yet but I'm guessing this will be my daughters PIR.  She arrived at GL on the 20th.  I am so looking forward to that form letter.

Comment by Jill (ATO Mom) on June 27, 2012 at 12:54pm

I too have not received the official form letter, but I'm just guessing right now that my daughter will graduate this day.  If not, I'll just group jump to a different group :-)

Good Afternoon, ladies!  I'm Betsy and another "veteran" mom helping out.  My youngest son is a CTT stationed on a super carrier in Washington state and my daughter's fiance is also in the Navy, although he is getting ready to get out after serving 6 years as an ET in Pearl Harbor.  Welcome to the Navy life.  We are happy to help you along with your journey.

Comment by diannep on June 27, 2012 at 12:16pm

Mike'sMom: That is correct.  The form letter is the official info for his PIR group.  It will contain his ship/div numbers, mailing address, grad info, and...most importantly...it is in your SR's handwriting, and there may be a personal note to you in there (just a few lines, but it is good!).  The form letter can arrive anywhere from a few days after they leave to about 2 weeks.  They can only send out one...so if there is another person they may have sent it to, be sure you know who that is so you can get your info!  :-)

My son left for BC on June 20th; I received my "Box" yesterday, and have not received my form letter yet.  When my son left, he told me that he would most likely graduate on 8/17/12, but I'm guessing I won't find out for sure until I receive my form letter???

leaanne:  Thanks for starting the group!  I am another N4Moms veteran here to help out.  My son went to bootcamp in 2009 and was actually originally in the same PIR group as JessicaBSailor's son (another N4Moms veteran who has joined your group).  My son is actually out of the Navy now, honorably discharged in March, but I love helping on the PIR sites!  So I have stayed!

Get ready for a wonderful emotionally up and down journey as your SR goes through bootcamp!
