Great letter, MrsSeniorChief!  Did he tell you that they can't talk during meals?  Not a word.  I know that must have been so hard for my son when he was there....he is a chatterbox!  But it explains why he was quiet at our lunch on PIR day...took him a while to get back into the talkative mood!

Sure hoping that the call will come when he says!  Fingers crossed!

Woohoo!!! Got a letter today. He was doing ok other than he was dieing for a Coke. He says he hasn't had a Coca Cola since he left and it was killing him. :) He said that everything was going okay they spend most of their day studying and drilling. He said he hoped to get to call this weekend but don't count on it because it depended on if they passed all inspections and tests. He did write my sister too and she told me he said that BC was not as he expected it would be that they do not get to talk much and they do a lot of intensive training. He said he had made some friends several people from Oklahoma and Texas. All and all his letter was positive, but I was surprised he wrote so much. I didn't expect a whole lot.

C E L E B R A T E nursecat!  YAH!  Now, put that form letter in a very safe place, or even make copies of it....don't lose it!  You NEED that password info!  (right, like you would really LOSE it after waiting this long for it!  :-)  )

So happy for the letters received here, ladies.  Warms your heart, doesn't it?  Hoping that many more will come for you all soon!

Got a letter from Adam today!  It was short - he is NOT a writer - but it was something.

I have read the letters a few times each, LOL. My SR said he was on day 1-5 & his letter is dated July 20. He also told me he is in the drum line for graduation, & was very happy about this. He had poison ivy when he left for BC & said it got infected but they gave him some good medicine & cream & it has healed. He says that BC isn't really that bad & that the food wasn't bad either. He is upset that he doesn't get much milk (he is a BIG milk drinker) LOL. He says there are lots of people form Ohio & that he is friends with almost everyone in his div.  He say he has a job, Ship Staff. He stands watch at the main  entrance to the building & everyone tells him it is a good job to have. They have told him that he may get more phone time if he does a good job! He passed his swim test & first PFA! He also ask for us to send him wallet size pictures. He said they have fleas there :( Said he was homesick at first and wanted to come home but he was fighting thru it!

I am so proud of him! He also told me to be patient waiting for letters, LOL. He knows me so well. :)

Congrats Nursecat, I know that has to be a BIG relief to finally get the form letter with the added bonus of 2 letters.

kbreanne:  I agree with Lala that the Navy Lodge seems to be a great deal.  It is close to RTC too.

Others that have decent prices and are nice hotels, located close to SARGE'S MeetNGreet, are Springhill Suites, Courtyard, and Residence Inn.  Make sure to ask for the Navy graduation rate or you can use AAA if you have that discount.  All 3 of these hotels have PIR shuttle.....$3/pp each way.  These are taxis that operate as shuttles for PIR.  Hotel books as many as they need that morning.

Prayers for her, Lala...continuing.

Hoping that those missing letters/calls have a "good day" today and receive one or the other...or both!  My son announced to me before he left back in 2009 that he wouldn't write because "I don't write letters" but he would call when he could.  Well....I received about 4-5 letters from him...so there is HOPE for all out there in receiving letters if my son wrote!  Remember, some of them use their extra time to study, etc, and just haven't had time to write too much.  But hoping MrsSeniorChief and GraceRae especially get those much-needed letters soon!

Good Morning everyone. For everyone who has been praying for my Sailor thank you so much. I can't even begin to tell you how much we appreciate that. She seems to be feeling a little better but had to have a CAT scan yesterday. We will hopefully hear good news from that today and maybe by Monday she will be able to go from SIQ to LLD. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Thanks so so much, Lora (aka lala)

kbreanne, Navy Lodge is $65 a night with no tax, you can get a kitchenette if there are any more available for that same price. You have to call them direct for that price and tell them you are coming for PIR. They will put the room in your Sailors name but he/she doesn't have to be present to check in. They just ask that they stop by the desk after graduation. They don't enforce that though. They will also give you a pass to be able to shop at the NEX down the street. You normally have to have military ID to shop there so it is pretty cool.
