Hey ladies my name is Sam. I'm not a navy mom but a loving significant other. My SR is in Division 271 and is probably one of the older recruits LOL. This is the longest we've gone without contact since we met 2.5 years ago. I got my letter last Thursday. Waiting on another :) and crossing my fingers and toes on a phone call. I have no military in my family, where as his family is all ARMY, so I'm new too ALL of this :).  Im excited to see him everyday.

Nursecat - I recieved my letter 2 days after getting my box.  It is probably circling in the mail system.  Something as simple as not adding E, W, S, etc or not putting on Circle, Street, Lane, etc. can really delay the delivery - but they get there eventually.  You will see it, I know you will.

Welcome, Sam - just dive right in!  :)

This is part of a comment I made on one of my group pages and I was asked to share this with my all my PIR groups so I am pasting it here for you as well.

I know this site can be a bit hard to get used to. But once you spend a little time here it is not bad at all. And for all those who do use Facebook, including myself, we all know that it is not always so easy. It seems that just when you think you haveFacebook all figured out they re-do the format and change it all again and it is like starting over. We all complain and freak out and beg them to put it back the way it was but we stay there and learn it all over again. At least with this site they don't make such drastic changes. Just spend some time here and ask questions. We will help you learn to navigate this site. It really is easy :)

You can ask anyone who knows me. I am here and I am on facebook to help other people the same way that others on this site helped me. I go above and beyond what most people would do to help a stranger and I truly believe there are several others on this site and facebook who do that as well. We like helping people, it is in our nature and that is what we do. I have driven 3 hours to help a fellow Navy Mom who needed me. I have held get together's in towns I visit to bring Navy Moms in those area's together. I have done that in FL, VA Beach/Norfolk area and in Wilmington NC area. I provided snacks and drinks and we all just talked for hours about our Sailors and recruits. I really enjoy meeting other Navy Moms/Wives, Grandmas etc. I recently had another Navy mom offer to drive 3 hours to help my Sailor who is very sick right now. Really? Who does that? I can tell you who does that. A Navy Mom does that!!! I don't know many people in this world who would drive 3 hours to take some soup to someone they had never met and it just be purely out of the goodness of their heart. I truly feel very much appreciated on this site and on facebook because I am told how appreciated I am. I think it is important to let others know how much we appreciate them. We all have a need to feel loved and appreciated and I am sure that is why I continue to spend several hours a day reading posts and comments and answering questions to help those who need it. We are one great big Navy family and I am blessed to have all of you as my friends.

So, please spread the word about this site, tell others how much you appreciate what they do and as Ellen Degeneres says "Be kind to one another" <3 We are family now :-)

I agree Diannep, My Sailor wrote a lot and ran out of paper and envelopes. She actually wrote and had me send her a tablet and envelopes with labels already on them. She said it saved her lots of time and gave her more time to write letters :-)

Hoping that more form letters show up today!

Helen:  Many times, the SRs write to you on the Navy letterhead/envelopes.  I actually mailed my son a couple of self-addressed stamped envelopes/sheets of paper, but he didn't use them.  Used the Navy stationery.  But for those SRs who write alot to family/friends, it might be a good idea to include a sheet of paper/stamped envelope in your letters for their next one.  Do it once and if they ask you not to send more, fine.  Or vice versa!  They can purchase stamps, stationery, envelopes at the NEX there if they need to.  Just saves them some $$ if you send them.

Hoping that calls come in for you all later this week!  If it totally up to their RDCs if/when they can call, and even then, some miss them because of "watch" or another responsibility they have.  Hearing their voices is a great "healer" for us on here!  Helps alot!

Good morning all!
