lol Wendy, that is so cute. The animals really do have a hard time when the recruits go to boot camp. I love all the videos of the pets going crazy when Sailors or other military members come home. It is so amazing :-)
On this day, July 23rd, 2010 my Sailor graduated from boot camp. I cannot believe it has been two years. It is amazing how fast time slips through your hands once they leave the nest. I am so very proud of her and all her accomplishments. She is an amazing young woman and the US Navy is so lucky to have her as part of their fleet.
My SR inherited his brother's pug when he went away to college. Mugsy slept with my son for years (across his neck or right by his head - and the dog snores SO loudly you can hear him through the door!! I told my son he won't have a problem sleeping at bc if there is anyone who snores since he's so used to it lol)Since I felt sorry for the old dog, I've let him sleep in my room (on the floor) and every morning for the first week he would run down the stairs and push open his door. It was so sad to see him look for him. He is adjusting though and doesn't seem to mind it anymore.
Ahhhh, Jess'Mom. Pets are so very sensitive to the absence of the humans they love! I know that ours get very sad when the "luggage" comes out. Since your SR wouldn't have left with "luggage" persay, then maybe the pets are very confused? Be sure to have the video camera running for the reunion....because those pets DON'T forget!
Wish it was possible to make your pets understand where she is...but not sure that is possible--no matter how smart they are! Just remember....Residence Inn is "pet friendly' so in the event you are close enough to drive to PIR and take pets, that would be a great place to stay in Waukegan! We stayed there...very nice. I watched a lady walk her beautiful Golden Retriever outside of the hotel when we were there. Just pictured how excited that sailor must have been to see that dog (and vice versa!).
They say that sometimes giving a pet some unwashed clothing, blanket, etc that has that person's scent on it can give them comfort. Not sure you have anything like that, but maybe? Stuffed animal? Sock? Anything. Do you ever open the door so that the cat can sniff around, get her scent, but recognizes that she is not there? Maybe that is the problem? The cat thinks she is "in there?" Just a thought....
Poor animals...they are truly our best friends and are lost without their masters! Hoping for a grand reunion soon!
I was wondering who else has moping pets. One of our dogs spent two days after she left under a chair in the dining room. The saddest thing though is one of our cats has taken to sitting in front of her closed bedroom door all of the time and does not like to move. She also has a habit of pulling out her fur when upset, which means the space in front of her door has it's own fury cover of cat hair.
Does anyone else have sad pets?
Awww, so cute. I just copied, pasted it and sent it to my daughter. Her bf is Navy until he gets out, when his 6 years is up, in Nov. :) My sailor son is still single, so I'll keep it for when he gets a new love in his life.
Love the Lego picture!!!
Cute!
