~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Heat, Wyattswmom....I am following the weather there, and it is pretty much 10 to 20 degrees cooler in GL than here in Central FL. I am looking forward to PIR, big time! LOL! Hoping for a letter, nothing but form letter so far....
Chelle14,
My Sailor daughter received her verbal orders about 3 weeks prior to her A school graduation on August 6th. No written orders yet.
Zachsmom94 My son is in your sons division. Its funny cause in his letter he said there is no privacy. He has to shower with 94 other guys.
Does anyone have ideas for graduation gifts? Are the coins the best way to go?
No mail here yet either , I wonder if he has gotten mine ?!!
Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for the SR to get letters from home. I have sent some as has his dad and grandma and he hasn't gotten any of them as of yet.
Mindy Ship13 Div334 : uh oh, that's not good.. My SR is also on ship 13 div 334 but he didnt say anything about his div at all.. Dx
my sons letter also said his division was having a hard time listening and not talking and two guys got kicked out of the unit for fighting.. he said he didn't even want to know what happened.. I think he said he was the yeoman division leader.. I was suprised at how much info he put in his lettter as well. He used to be a life gaurd on catalina during the summer he said the food is just the same as camp same thing every day and it's not good lol said i guess i'm used to this by now..
We got four letters today, completely surprised us since my son is not really into writing anything. He wrote to me, his sister, his best friend and my sig other. Even though he really misses home, he does like it there.Unknown to me, he had a 30 minute conversation with his Grandpa (my dad who was in Navy) who gave him advice about boot camp -- told him to become a part of the group and be quiet and follow direction. He said he is glad he had that conversation with Grandpa and he is following that advice. Is looking forward to seeing us at PIR. Makes me so very proud!
I was so happy to get my "Dear Mama" letter in the mail today! My son is not usually super chatty but did write a nice letter. He is almost 21 and said that there is some nonsense with the younger guys that frustrates him because they don't listen very well... He said that he did get some "nice" blisters from his boots and that he likes his uniforms. He said that the hardest part of the P-days was staying awake. The last thing that he told me was "some of these kids are really struggling with being away from home, but I am doing fine." I know that he misses us, but is very excited to get on with his life in the Navy. Makes my heart so happy to know that he is doing well and doesn't want me to worry about him. Love my boy!
